EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

I wish these reality shows would do a series on dog traders.  Can you imagne it???  A dog trader goes to the  Corpus Christi Dog Pound and gets all of the catahoulas, blackmouths Lacys pit bulls free by trading wild hogs to the kennel keeper.  Then he takes the dog pound dogs home and worms them up and washes them all up, then he gets to branding them and tattoing them to make them look like they were owned by somebody and went unclaimed.  Every day he will have a round pen full of wild hogs he lets his own hog dogs on to bay all day, he will put some feed around and inside the hog pen for the pound dogs who now have noting to eat for 2 or 3 days.  They will see him go by the bullpen with their dog feed and he will let them smell it and see him toss it around the hog round pen. He will get these cement trained house and lost dogs all baying the hogs in the pen with his dogs as they think its kewl and part of the feeding routine.  He will snap some pictures of the dogs baying with his dogs and have them to post with the strike dog for sale can see working hogs here at the kennel. Somebody with no dogs will call and come see the dog and pay like $800 for the hogdog that is running around barking at penned hogs.  He will get 2 or 3 more of the dogpound dogs to put togther with the strike dog so he can catch his own hogs now with his trader dogs..  Now the camera pans to the tailgate where the newbie and newbies tryees are dumped out in good hog country.  Silenece as the dog pound  dogs disapear for 30 minutes into the night.  Suddenly the whole pack is paying furiously and the newbies rush with flashlight to see what the dogs have bayed up.  They crawl thru the brush where they find all of the dogs circling about 30 short earned red brahma mama cows with baby calves.  After getting chased and knocked down by a few really agressive mama red bramas they drag and call off the dog pound dogs.  One snaps a digital camera of them baying the cows on his Iphone for the trader.  They take the dog bak and the trader offers to buy them back at 1/2 price as they are cow dogs aparently he admits after looking at the photo, they leave as dog trader open the picture and sees 20 hogs inside the circle of red mama cows that they missed that were 2nd harvesting due to drought.  Phone rings, cowboy aske him if he has any cow dogs, yesI sure do, guys sold all of the cows off the ranch and gave me these dogs to sale because he was laid off, when can you come over???lol

Sounds to me like you know how it is done.JMO!!!!!!!!

Ya sounds like you know that routine far too well... Not all dog traders are chicken$@!t like that there are some honest dog traders that do deal with ONLY better quality dogs and stand behind them 100% ;)

That could be several old boys from down here in South Texas! I know of some guys that "shop" around the area pounds regularly.

Shoot i wish the guys that stuck me with crap dogs when i started put out that much effort

I've seen a lot of dirty tricks to pedal a junk dog myself but I'm not a dog jockey, When I was younger and first got into hounds I got burned a lot, many tricks pulled on me and I learned a lot of expensive lessons and  knightstockterrier  I'm sure that's how you knew all that as well.

One thing i've learned in life is there are more sorry dogs out there than good ones and it's way easier to just be honest. I don't sell dogs and don't buy grown dogs that's how I stay out of trouble on both ends  ;)

The trick that got me was, well sir is it any good? "yeah son it's a goodun". OH WOW REALLY il bring cash where you want to meet.  Honestly hog dogs have taught me alot more then Tarleton state university.
