Picture if you will....

1  Five foot 4 inch 117 lb woman
1  Fourteen hand (maybe) 1000 lb shetland/mustang/god knows what else looking cross gelding...

So I decided that I am way out of shape, and that I am going to ride 2-3 hours a day, mostly at a long trot and get back in shape. Well, my black gelding and sorrel gelding both have bad hocks/stifles, and can't handle a whole lot of trotting without getting sore. So that leaves Harley, Baby, and..... Bucky. Well, Harley is a bronc from Hades, and I didn't want to die trying to get in shape, so I turned her out. Then I look at Baby, who is my 5 year old cousin's horse... This little mare is GREAT for young kids, but she wouldn't know a long trot if it bit her in the hoohaa... So once again, that leaves...... Bucky.

Now Bucky is Maurice's gelding, and I kid you not, he looks like the offspring of a shetland pony mare, mustang stud horse, with maybe a draft grandparent. He is about 14 hands tall, maybe 3 ft long, and weighs about 1000 lbs. He is so rough at a long trot and lope, there is no sitting it, you MUST post, which is exactly what I was looking for. Bucky is also the horse that if you are catching horses, you catch him first, because if you don't, every horse that you tie up will be untied in about 2 mins, tops. If you are loading horses, you load him or tie him up first, because if you don't, then you have to chase him out of the trailer so you can load the horse you want, BUT, if you are in a hurry, and/or by yourself, well, lets just say you're gonna be there a while.

But anyway, back to the story.

So I get cruisin down the road, and things are looking pretty good. Bucky is actually behaving himself, and doing ok. So I ask for a trot. Now mind you, this little sucker can long trot fast enough to keep up with a BIG horse's slow lope, he can flat git it. We are cruising along, about 5th gear in a six speed tranny, when Bucky decides to down shift, COMPLETELY misses 4th gear and goes straight to 3rd. So while I am grabbing his ears to push myself back in to the saddle, Ole Buck decides to pull the emergency brake, and cuts a hard right turn... So now I am not only grabbing ears, I am looking for stirrups, flanks, saddle horn, whatever it takes to keep from kissing the ground cuz it don't look like it's too soft. Right about then Buck decides that maybe he is done playing and finds the go go juice again and gets back into that nice long trot. We make it about 10 yards, and repeat. We go through this for 5 MILES!!!! So finally, exhausted, TICKED, and thirsty as all get out we make it back to the house. I step off, open the gate, get to the trailer, wrap the lead rope around buck's neck, off comes the bridle, and there goes the horse. Yep, there he goes, at a dead run, across the pasture, with my saddle, stirrups flapping in the wind. Spent 20 mins chasing this horse around and around 20 acres with a feed bucket, begging him not to roll until I can get my saddle off him...


Have I mentioned I HATE THAT DADGUM, NO GOOD, HAY BURNIN, STUPID, SORRY OVER GROWN SHETLAND PONY WANNA BE? ? ? ?

I'm sorry, but that was so funny I had to read it a couple of times.  Sounds like a horse with some character. 

With your luck I think you need to get rid of the ponys and get you a good 4 wheeler

To prove my point, while back I had the horse shoer coming to give pedicures... But Buck wasn't due for his, so I caught Khloe, tied her up, walked across the catch pen to get Gambler, and Khloe comes trotting by me...  :o   So I tied Gambler up, and catch Khloe again, and Gambler comes trotting by me   :o  ??? So I tie Khloe up, and walk across to get Gambler, all the while, watching Khloe over my shoulder, and I see Bucky sneak up there, untie her rope, BITE her on the rump, spin around and RUN away....  >:(  :o  rolleyes

Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! I could hear you telling that in your own voice! I've got a dirt bike you can ride. I think it would be a lot safer.

No, Maurice isn't home, so no video.. I would have done it myself, but I was too busy trying to keep from eating dirt!

There was a place in Kaufman that knew what to do with horses like that, til they got shut down.Jk

To funny   ;D   It sounds like he can keep you in shape without riding just keeping up with his entertaining personality  great story

Yep, keep riding Bucky, and you'll be in shape in 1/2 the time. LOL
