Title: Blue ticks Post by: Hog_Wild2011 on August 08, 2011, 01:54:47 pm I don't know much about blue ticks tellme the good and bad things about the. Are they good strike dogs or just bay dogs
Title: Re: Blue ticks Post by: Cutter Bay Kennels on August 08, 2011, 02:02:31 pm Any breed of dog has good and bad within it. If you need track dogs to get to the hog to bay, a hound is a good addition to any pack. However, if you are overrun with hogs that are easily spotted by the hunter him/herself, a cur is most likely a better option. Curs tend to use their eyes, whereas a hound perfers to use it's nose. Neither is better, just different. Both have their place depending on the situation at hand. ;D

Title: Re: Blue ticks Post by: Bar R Ranch on August 08, 2011, 02:52:36 pm My main strike dog is a bluetick. He is LONG range, and he will put teeth on a hog to stop him. My buddy has one that is a lot rougher than mine but he hunts more like my curs. His is totally silent and mine only barks after a hog breaks.
