Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: DixieDogs24 on September 10, 2011, 10:22:31 pm I dunno but I use a 21 volt belt light. I like to see where I'm walking and what I'm running in on before I'm to.close to back out.
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: Critter Catcher on September 10, 2011, 10:26:14 pm I just bought a head lamp but I also and prior to care a LED Black & Decker spot light (real bright). I came to the conclusion the bright light was pushing the hogs and they would break seeing the light coming thru the woods so I now use the head lamp until I'm right up on the bay then bust out the spot light..you can get the LED spot light at Walmart..it is surprising bright and uses 4 C batteries..just tie a thick string thru the handle and hang it off your shoulder until you need it..
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: dub on September 10, 2011, 10:31:50 pm I put a clip on light on my hat. but to be honest it is mainly so I can find my hat after a branch knocks it off. I wear thick pant, a thick shirt, and don't really care what I run through. But after seing that hard hat I would like a bump hat with a light. Maybe hang some thick cloth to stop the briars from falling down my shirt ;D I know there was just a thread on the best lights. I do not want too bright of a light it blinds you to what is not in the light. I like to see what is going on not just one spot. But a decent light on a bump helmet may prevent a few head aches rolleyes
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: Peachcreek on September 10, 2011, 10:38:09 pm I for one have been using one of those cheap headband lights and after the other night i will be getting a better headlight. I was trying to hurry to the bay and the cheap light was not bright enough to see where i was going at a run. Mike had a kelly light and that thang was bright fo sho.
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: charles on September 10, 2011, 10:46:05 pm I think that if the light is to bright, it blinds me to much n the energizer head lamps from walmart are even to bright with fresh batteries in them. Iv burned my eyes welding a couple times n my eyes r to sensitive to bright lights n im use to workn nights so my eyes stay adjustd to the dark n the red light on them head lamps work great n wont alert the game either. Jmo. I pair of nods is the nxt purchase, which will elimnate the need for a light till i get to the pig
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: bayed hard hog dogs on September 10, 2011, 10:51:57 pm I have a 21 volt belt light made by tajas outdoors has been a good one, had it for 5 yrs, I have always hunted dogs from coon to hogs we always used nite lite 6 volts tell the belt light came out, I don't no why people don't spend the money and just get a good one.
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: sfboarbuster on September 10, 2011, 10:52:20 pm I just use an old maglight most of the time. The only time I ever use it is going to the bay anyways.
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: dabutcher on September 10, 2011, 10:59:55 pm I've got a Princeton Tec.....best headlamp i've ever had. Super bright and has multiple settings.
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: KerDog77 on September 11, 2011, 12:55:15 am Black Diamond makes quality lights as well. They aren't near as bright as one of those "miners lamps", but it gets the job done nicely.
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: halfbreed on September 11, 2011, 11:28:55 am you just have to be wary of the fact that while you are shining that bright light into a bay or catch you are actually blinding your dogs and that results in potentionaly getting your dogs hurt . don't believe me just shine one in your eyes and see how long it is till you can see again. thats why i prefer a regular ol dull light .
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: SwineHunter on September 11, 2011, 11:36:30 am day light works for me :o
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: brad s on September 11, 2011, 11:45:16 am I just use one of those small mag lites but I don't want to get an expensive one bc I will lose it or somebody will need it more than me. Plus I don't want a lite to bright also
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: djhogdogger on September 11, 2011, 12:07:54 pm I buy cheap lights because Ive lost more lights than I can count. I see pretty good at night anyways. Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: tnhillbilly on September 11, 2011, 11:32:58 pm Ive got a 28 v bright eyes belt light. But Im leaning towards a new led head, like the k-light. My buddy's got one and I liked it.
Tri-tronics is coming out with a new led cordless head thats mounted to a cap in Nov. Its rechargeable and looks pretty sweet. Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: tnhillbilly on September 16, 2011, 12:38:57 am Btt

I like them both! I also use my lights with a bump cap to keep brush from dragging them off of my head!
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: SwampHunter on September 16, 2011, 03:52:43 pm I got 21v bright eyes an I like it , I can turn it down real low or turn it up bright if I wanna see far
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: Reuben on September 16, 2011, 06:19:15 pm I have a 21 volt K Lite and a lazer torch 2. I like them both! I also use my lights with a bump cap to keep brush from dragging them off of my head! JohnBrown what are the pro's and con's from these 2 lights as far as brightness, battery life? and I don't care for some of those blue lights from the led lights... What is the price and the bulk difference? Thx Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: gary fuller on September 16, 2011, 07:31:06 pm wow n all i use is a mini mag.
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: Johnbrown on September 16, 2011, 08:20:31 pm The Klite is a little brighter than the lazer torch but not much. What I also like about the k lite is you can adjust it down real dim, as to where the lazer torch on has high and low. My lazer torch holds battery life way longer than the klite. The torch also is all attached to the bump cap and leaves belt room for my knife and my pistol. I have retierd my k lite since I bought the lazer torch. I am very pleased with both lights. As far as either of them being to bight to hog hunt with I have never had that problem.(jmo) All I have ever hunted with is old coonhunting lights such as klite, nitelite, and coonbusters. I know I love my lazer torch and I will not go back to belt lights. :D
Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: Johnbrown on September 16, 2011, 08:23:19 pm Oh yeah the laser torch is led but it throws off a white light. The torch is also cheaper.

Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: adamp on September 17, 2011, 12:42:25 am I use as little light as possible until the pig is caught. And even then I might not turn one on. I know it pushes pigs hard and will break the bay a lot. only bad thing I've experienced with not using lights is I crawled all the way to a bay with no lights and legged the hog. Once my buddy got there and stuck it i started to feel stinging all over. They turned on the lights and I was covered in yellow jackets. Not a fun ending but hey I Ddnt break the bay ;D
If you are going to use one I recommend a small led made by brinkman. Takes the 123 batteries is light and as bright as my surfire for a 1/4 of the price Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: Reuben on September 17, 2011, 08:21:51 am I use as little light as possible until the pig is caught. Takes the 123 batteries is light and as bright as my surfire for a 1/4 of the price I have had a few yellow jackets chase me but have been lucky so far...what worries me is what if I or some else stumbles over a killer bee hive? I am surprised that no one on ETHD's have said anything about near misses with the african bees. Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: tnhillbilly on September 19, 2011, 01:32:17 am Ive got in the yellow jackets plenty of times, if I start hearing buzzing, or that distinctive pinging on my light, im out of there.
I read the other day where the African bees were more aggressive this year. Swarmed a 2,000 lb boar hog and killed it. "Tame, not hogzilla" Anyway about the lights. I tried the bump caps, sweated me to death, the moisture cant escape and runs back down, and will drowned you. I am seriously considering an led light, just not sure which one to get. Might wait and see how this tri-tronics light works. I do not like the white light or the blue looking led lights...I reckon you can call me old school. I want to see a led light with the whitish yellow light like a regular flashlight puts out... :D Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: da.wells on September 21, 2011, 04:30:49 pm (http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/zz232/da_wells/widowmaker.jpg)

GET THIS Title: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: dub on September 21, 2011, 10:01:10 pm Lights on bees fly. Lights off and bees crawl. Killer bees or any bee run into the wind and hit every branch you pass. Some bees will go for the movement of the branch because they see movement more than objects. But just keep running until there are no more bees flying. At night turn the light off and run a short way and then start knoking the bees off while you walk so they don't crawl on you again. Killer bees would have already stung you. Do not brush the bees off with your hands. The stingers in your clothes will get your hand. There are bee hormones they put on you to mark you as a target to you may want to dump the clothes with bee hormones and stingers to pick up later.

Maybe rolleyesTitle: Re: lights ?? i like to see Post by: treeingratterrier on September 22, 2011, 05:53:46 pm Maglites used to last an hour, those bump hard hats look gay and always have to me, best light out there is a higher end night lite with a reostat, if you never had a $150 light you are still in the dark, we used to turn th elight down way low and they would last all night, if somebody got lost they could go up in a tree and aim the light straight up and go to sleep for hours until the truck cameb back around to pick us up, I order the bracket from nite lite and ribet it on a stetson short brimmed hat in the winter or a good cap with pull downs and snap under the chin, i liked the one that flickered to make the coons show there eyes, plus if your truck break down or gets stuck you can turn the light way way up and work on it with the lite that mounts on the battery as a holder, i also liked the idea that had extra bulbs inside them, they are bult to take abuse, those 2 cells and mag lights break first time they get dropped i used for a while, go to nite lights web site and check them out, i got the $125 dollar one in the truck but cant remember the voltage, used to be 6 but i think this new one is 12 volts, some are like 24 volts but too much money and weight for me, lots of time we left the belt withthe light tied to a tree shinning to the road while we went back to drag the hog out or carry out a cut down dog, they really come in handy, when i was guiding we had one for every hunter and have them in the bunkhouse for lost deer or hog retreives, plus u can charge them in the truck vs those crappy d cellslol
