Would like to start off by saying Thanks to Mr Trap For selling Me and My Buddy this Four Wheeler.....Would like to get a Little info on this Four Wheeler...Do any off yall have one of these ?

yes i have one, its the best fourwheeler honda has ever made imo

 X2 My father n law has a 1988 model that still going.  :)  The motor was rebuilt in the late 90's and we put a  rear axle one it around 2006, but still going.

I bought a 97 a few months ago, it's rock solid and everything I've read says the same as all these previous posts,,, best atv honda ever made. Heck, I'm looking for another one!

I believe Honda quit making these because they lasted to well. The brakes are one of the few weeks spots as they are not disk and don't hold up well when they get wet. Check the bearings in the frontend, change the oil, check front and rear gear box oil and you should be very happy with this wheeler. I've never met anyone with anything bad to say about a Honda 300.

I agree with everyone else obout the Honda 300. Also one other thing. On the older models (1988 to early 90's), "DO NOT" run the same size tires all the way around it. The reason behind this is because the front differential and rear differential have 2 different gear ratio's. Thats the reaseon for the 2 different tire sizes on them.

Guy I work with said he has a 1996 four trax 200 that runs good with front and rear racks and gun rack. NOT a 4x4. He wants $500.
How were/are the four trax 200's  ?

DJ it's a little known and very well concealed urban myth that Honda four wheelers do in fact come from the manufacturer with brakes. I have owned and ridden several hondas but have never been able to prove the brake myth. Whether or not they have them may never be proven but it's a fact that they don't need them.  ;D But high lifter does sell an after market disc brake add on that I would go with before fixing the mythical drum brakes.

I thought it was a four trax 250 by 96. But all those hondas in that time frame are good. I got a 97 400 4x4 that I bought new that has been used hard. (not abused) and it still runs great. Ive got to put new seals in front and rear and swing arm bearings but it's 14 years old.

 Just having a little fun with you. I can't ever remember having brakes. Even when we got a new 4 wheeler, I was so used to just down shifting that I never used the brakes much. We used to have a honda 185 three wheeler back in the day and I loved that thing. Nothing beats a honda.  :)

 Good point because a lot of people just buy four tires the same size and put on them.

I bought a 1993 300 fourtrax 4x4 from a man a few months back. The man I got it from has had it since '95 with little to no problems at all. He keep up on the oil changes and it has been reliable to him and I haven't had the first problem with it either. If it wasn't for the man's health he said he wouldn't have sold it because it had been so good to him. I also have a buddy with a '80s model that's still running strong.

I got to know mine pretty well. Years ago was chasing a cow through the woods(no cow dogs) and tried to go through a narrow trail of tallow trees. To make a long story longer I ended up bending one side of the axle. My Ole man insistead of riding it afterwards and doing so costed me a new rear differential which are over $300 used. Like said earlier the brakes on most hondas are one of the few negatives. If your in any deep mud do yourself a favor and go ahead tear into them and clean em up some. If not, they can be a pain to tear down later when brakes to begin hanging up. Hope you have good luck with your new purchase.

Best in investment on a fourtrax is the superatv disk brake kit. Couple hundred bucks and you can be done with brake issues. I've had a 92, a 96, and a 98 in the past and they were great bikes. Keeping an eye on the diffs is always a good idea as mention and if you plan on pulling a heavy pig trailer a gear reduction is a must. Those few things aside they are awesome bikes, some days I wish I had my 96 back instead of my new rancher!
