got a gyp its her first heat. normally id wait and let em mature but im dying to see wat shes throwing! pinned her up with my YBMC and hes staying at it( but shes not giving it up easy from what i can tell)... if i got i timed right shes only got a couple days left to be in. - ive been watching em and cant rlly tell if they locked r not. although he is showin the dominant superior role now well as before he was non stop all hussle. **** i need a way to be sure they lock up! im clueless. and need help quick! Title: Re: Curiousity is killing me..(advice) Post by: tnhillbilly on September 25, 2011, 10:25:26 pm Im not understanding, they either lock up or they dont. If they are locked they will stay that way 10-20 mins. If they separate right after initial breeding then their not, but the gyp could still get bred.

Title: Re: Curiousity is killing me..(advice) Post by: BIG BEN on September 26, 2011, 07:29:39 am From what I always understood a gyps heat cycle is 3 parts over 3 weeks, first week swelling begins and a lil bleeding, 2nd week bleeding clears up, clear fluid is present, still swollen. This is the week I understand is the only time period the gyp can be bred or the best chances the pregnancy will take. 3rd week the gyp starts to come out of heat, less fluid present and swelling is going down. You say by your timing she only has a few days left to breed, is it her 2nd week in heat? If its her 3rd week she may not be able to be bred this cycle.

The way I see it, is let nature run its course. If she isnt taking in her first heat, maybe your original comment is right in that she shouldnt be bred this early. When she is ready, it will happen. |
