Title: Question for certified welders?

I have a 6g welding test coming up Friday
For a new job What should I be expecting?
First time ever taking a test I'm leaching on my
root pass, hot pass, and cap is their realy
anything else??

 Yeah, there really is something else.... 6 inch 160 is a MARATHON, not a race. Not sure which test you are doing. Based on your post I assume sch80 6 and maybe 2 inch. When you get there find a short 2x4 and slap yourself in the face with it a few times. Then do your thing...

 And since we can't edit posts......... You better get a coupon now and practice the 6G position until your arm falls off. If you have never taken the test chances are you dont weld like that very often.

the best thing to remember is gravity is your friend and your worst nightmare! IF you have been practicing and know hw to work that puddle your good!!  Dont forget to walk your cup!!!

If you can get by with it only put 3 tacks in ur coupon, less tie ins. Use ur grinder and try and make ur fit perfect as you can. If ur gap is bigger on one side of the pipe weld that side first so ur not stuck with A huge gap. Theres a few tips hope it helps.

take your time dont get in a rush and you will do fine. it took me three hours to do mine.

A kinda way to cheat is put your long tack on the bottom so you dont have to spend as much time on bottom with the root pass kinda helps when you get going

Make sure you use lots of starch and don't get dirty. That is how I see all the rig welders around here so it must help. :angel:
