Title: big tooth Post by: southtexasff on November 23, 2011, 01:36:16 am Made a run with Striker55 from on here at a field we got smoked on the last time out. Turned the dogs loose and noticed the number 1 dog was not running normal. His right elbow kept kicking out when he ran. If he tried to run full speed he would fall forward. It was an injury from the last hunt at this place. Loaded him up and kinda thought we were done for the night. Still had a seasoned strike dog on the ground that has slowed down a bit due to age and a bad back leg. Had him and three other pretty good started dogs on the ground. As soon as we loaded up the hurt dog we hadnt even traveled a few hundred yards when the dogs cut into the brush pretty hot. Shut off the truck and waited, few seconds later we here the seasoned strike dog bark. The other dogs joined in, heard a small fight and a break. They shut him down in some pretty thick brush and bayed him solid. Cut the rookie catchdogs loose and crossed my fingers. When we got close to the bay we could smell him. When we finally made it to where they were I saw my young pit gyp baying :( . Saw the boar and he was a good one. When he charged the little pit she went in and grabbed and all the other dogs started catching. I had trouble seeing him so I went in to leg him, I put my hand on what I thought was his back. I looked down and I had my hand right between his eyes as he was trying to fling dogs. He spun around and I was able to leg him. Striker55 finished him off. Striker55's cat gyp to a big hit right to the back of her leg. He had a decent cutter on the right, 2 3/4'', the left one measured 6 1/4''.

Title: Re: big tooth Post by: halfbreed on November 23, 2011, 08:02:44 pm nice one . i sold a dog to a fella and he told me the boars they caught they would cut em and knock the wetters out so the teeth would grow like that . without the wetters theres nothing to gring it down .
Title: Re: big tooth Post by: southtexasff on November 23, 2011, 08:18:14 pm Yeah he was missing the top wetter. I dont think that tooth would really do as much damage as the one on the right did.

Title: Re: big tooth Post by: NechesBobcat on December 04, 2011, 11:09:56 am Awesome! I've heard it doesn't take them long at all to grow like that after you knock their wetters out. Someone told me they caught one and knocked them out and 6 months later is was 3 inches longer. I think they're kinda like a beaver. They'll just keep growing. I've caught some beavers that their teeth didn't line up to grind each other down they were super long.
