Title: hobbles Post by: HOGDOGGERSPC on November 26, 2011, 08:11:48 am I have been taking most of my hogs live and havent really found a user friendy set of hobbles yet. I have found one set from uglydog that have quick snaps but the snaps dont last but once or twice and there trashed. any suggestions? How about the large zip ties the cops use or handcuffs?
Title: Re: hobbles Post by: dub on November 26, 2011, 08:50:16 am Mule tape. I leave my pieces long and use them for tying hogs feet, tying hogs to the ATV/UTV, back up dog leads, and anything else I need. I know peeople that just use rope from tractor supply. But I got a bunch of mule tape free just by asking a crew. I have never used a hoble.

Title: Re: hobbles Post by: adamp on November 26, 2011, 12:32:21 pm I would recommend handcuffs. Quick easy and strong, zip ties work but you'll be buying new ones frequently

Title: Re: hobbles Post by: brad s on November 26, 2011, 02:44:27 pm I had big boar break handcuffs one time. Hog killed my dog also and broke cuffs and got away with cuffs still on him. Then 9mon later my neighbor caught the hog in a trap with one cuff still on him and put him in holding pen and he broke out of it. So I quit using cuffs. But cuffs wasn't the greatest quality either but I cuffed lots hog with em

FORGET ABOUT IT!
me personally i prefer mule tape for everything, almost RELIABLE as a redneck and ducttape! Title: Re: hobbles Post by: ETHHunters on November 26, 2011, 06:32:44 pm Muletape is not very good on hogs if your trying to keep them.

Title: Re: hobbles Post by: hogdog9 on November 28, 2011, 09:32:21 am I always make my own by using old horse halters and cutting the two bottom chin straps out. if you have two old halters that are the same you will have two different size of hobbles. Its cheaper then going out and buying a set of hobbles. you can go to yard sales or auctions and buy those old halters for like $1.00 each

He sure never offered to use them on any of my hunts! ;D I jus use about 10 different types of hobbles. Keep them on a lead in hobble position so when you pull them off there ready to go. I'm always so tired when i get him flipped i just take my time and smoke a cig anyways! ;) Title: Re: hobbles Post by: Purebreedcolt on November 28, 2011, 10:19:19 am He just made them a few days ago.

Title: Re: hobbles Post by: bird on November 28, 2011, 07:51:42 pm I have always used mule tape to tie and have used handcuffs on the last few I've caught. The handcuffs work decent so far because its quicker than tying when your limited on help
