No dog in my opinion has more natural hunt. They are great wind dogs and great track dogs. They are intense bayers and generally gritty dogs. They tend to take a little longer to mature but def worth the wait. Something I've found out is the "trials" bred dogs and dogs that are bred to be hunted off of horses usually have more range. "Walk" hunting dogs have a shorter range. Their is a differance. But their are exceptions.
My best two dogs is a full english and german shorthair. The english is getting on up in age now. Hunts hard from close to 800 yards. He will try anything and youwill only get a bark or two. If he bays its a big one. The german is about the same but has a little more since. But he's still a hammerhead. Would consider a gritty bay dog. The english is my favorite. A little crazier than the german but that's what I like about them. Especially with 1/4 good game bred pit in them. |
