I don't have dogs we call "bay dogs" so I have a question. Heard that on LH they said they turned bay dogs loose to track hog down. We use strike dogs to do that. I thought bay dogs were more like help dogs than strike dogs. Can someone enlighten me on the difference?

From what I can tell by the use of the terms is that bay dog and strike dog are the same. Just strike dog sounds cooler. I am not cool so I use bay dogs.

Can a strikedog be a baydog?

I guess so. After he strikes the hog he bays it.

Here's my breakdown::::
Strike dogs n Find dogs same.
Bay dogs n Help dogs same.
If u go by the definition of words that what I come up with.

  As much as dog food coast, the better do both,  if they want to eat at my house!

It just all depends on what you were raised to say. I never heard the term "strike dog" until we got on ETHD. We only have bay dogs and catch dogs. Our bay dogs find, and bay hogs. So I guess they would qualify as strike dogs. Does a strike dog bay a hog after it strikes it?

Our strike dogs find, bay n will put teeth on the hog to stop it but they do not full fledge catch. We don't want them catching. Once catch dogs get there our strike dogs leave if other hogs r there n if not they hang around n watch.
