At Kevin river spot last night, right as the dogs were closing in on the ghost, Connie Chung stepped right over a corral snake. I did a double take and stepped on it so Chad could cut his head off for me, but i got in a hurry and forgot to take a pic. >:(

It was the first one I've ever seen and didn't live up to my expectations. It was only maybe 7 Inches and not even very aggressive. The whole time I had my foot on it he never even tried to strike my boot.

How big do these snakes get and what ar your experiences with em

I've seen a few of them they don't get to big a 3 footer is a big one and there not real aggressive atleast with the ones I've delt with

I have ran across a few over the years, posted one on here a year or so back that was right by the back porch.  X 2 on them seeming to not be real aggressive. They make a pretty skin for the wall tho.

They are very common in Fl. I've seen a bunch. One strike is unlikely to do damage as they have to "chew" to get venom in good. I still won't "play" with them though. Generally, 10-18" is standard. I've never seen one get aggressive.

Found a few and never had one be aggressive. I think you would have to be playing with one to get it to bite. But it only takes one bite to kill you.

Killed this one not too long ago.

There not aggressive at all unless handled real rough, but just like Josh said, they have to chew on you to inject any poison, but once they do, it's over with for you.

Terry they are pretty common in the river bottoms I've killed quite a few at the house and hunting the bottoms over the years.

Yea real poisonous ....but small headed and rear fanged n not very aggressive.  They have a different type venom than the pit vipers like moccasins, rattlers and copper heads.

But yes still very venomous.

The Corral Snake was commonly referred to as the Texas Cobra when I was a kid, it was said they are just as poisonous..You get chewed on by one you better get to the hospital pretty quick...

You will notice that you always see them in the same place. At our old house we always had them in the back yard and killed tons of them every year. At our ranch house we ALWAYS see them in the driveway. I've probly killed over 50 in a 50 yard area. DO NOT THINK FOR A MINUTE THEY CAN'T BITE YOU! I was messing with one a while back and it bit my boot and was instantly latched on and soaked the toe of my boot in venom. I have seen some that weren't so agressive but I have also seen some pretty agressive ones. Also, it's important to know that there are several different varieties of coral snakes and not all have the red and yellow touching. There is a Milk Snake that is harmless but there are also coral snakes that look just like a milk snake. I believe they are mainly on the west coast. Don't ever take a chance with one.

That top one had 18 and had lost a lot. I think he was a very old snake. You can tell when they are all the same size that it has stopped growing. When you find one with tapered rattles he's still growing. Alot of people say they have so many rattles and a button but very few snakes still have the button. The button is their first rattle that they are born with and it's round.

Dang and yes it is luck o find ones with the buttons

I've only dealt with two coral snakes so far. Both were found within about 10 feet of each other, a year apart. I wondered if there was some type of den in the area. They were probably only 18" or so, and not very thick.

Coral Snakes live in the ground most of the time. So you will find them in the same area because it is good underground in the area. I am no biologist and never dug one up but that ishat I hear.

We killed two of them (coral snakes) when I lived in La. Both in same area, they called them the three step snake, cause supposedly thats all you get after being bitten.

Got my good gyp ran over a couple weeks ago in Shepard. Got a few young dogs that'll run one but they're a lil trashy.
