Well I have decided to stop drinking!!!! I have been talking to and going on dates with this girl from work about 2/3 months everytime we have went drinking and dancing and have a good time until I get whiteboy wasted as she calls it. I start looking for that 1 fight to get my mind right or run off and start dancing with every girl I can find to hold me up. I don't know why I get like that but when my face goes numb its on... I drink whiskey!!! Beer gives me a headache after 1 don't like it... well anyway I went out after work lasrnight GOT DRUNK called the girl and finally asked her WHY we haven't went any further and she told me I am unattractive when I drink and it pushes her away so she wants to just be friends. Well that ain't going to work im done drinking I think that's the best thing to do. What do y'all think

I QUIT 3 YEARS 7 MONTHS AN 13 DAYS AGO, I WAS A WHISKEY DRINKER TOO, IT AINT EASY AN I DONT PUSH IT CAUSE I DONT WANT TO BE ONE OF THOSE GUYS THATS HOLIER THAN THOU AFTER RAISIN HELL FOR YEARS, BUT IF YOU CAN QUIT YOU WILL FEEL BETTER THAN YOUVE FELT SINCE YOU WERE A KID! IT REALLY IS A ROUGH WAY TO LIVE

I worked with a guy in my first year of six at a john deere dealership in Australia,he would drink rum and grow to ten feet tall and want to fight everybody,we ended up being room mates in a rent house so i had to witness his weekend warrior crap more than anybody. Needless to say,the night he stepped to me was the night he got a permanent reminder,i bit off the lower third of his left ear and made them blood test me at the hospital cos his girlfriend was a skank! Got the all clear and he quit being a macho boy after that,at least for a little while.

i quiet a little over 2yrs ago, cold turkey. i wanted to hunt more than drink and needed the money i was waisting on beer, for hunting supplies and fuel to travel to my hunting spots. it was and still is satisfying to not drink anymore. i dont even like the taste of it. we all have our reasons for stopping some form of habbit. good luck to ya.

Im going to try my hardest I just don't know how that's going to work. I love whiskey but gotta do what I need to do to keep me out of trouble and keep a pretty girl around

well if you cain't handle alcohal it's best to quit . i bounced quite a few clubs and gave the same advice to alot of up and comers . in the parkin lot

been there done that but with pills n alcohol, getting shocked back to life twice listenin to newborn baby crying for me made me quit the pillz n not drink so much, USE HOG AS UR HIGH! What im doin...

about 15 years ago I was complaining about being broke. Looked down and had a cigarette in one hand and a beer in the other. I put the cigarette out put the beer on the bar and walked out. My life has got nothing but better ever since. I have a one drink limit now and life is much better. It is funny how much more money is in your pocket when you stop drinking. I am still a jerk but get in less fights now ;D

Whiskey is the devil  ;D..... Any time I get too deep into it things tend to get interesting to say the least HAHA...  If its affecting your life in a negative way get the hell away from it, whatever "it" is...

When I was a kid we were at a nice restuarant eating and there a guy there with a girl being loud, spilling drinks, and just plain being an obnoxious drunk. One of the guys with us said that the man worked for him. I said somethething and the man at our tabled said the drunk would not be working for him in the morning. Every man has to know his limitations or he is a fool.

Yea im dedicated for sure on everything I do so I hope this road I have chosen to take ain't got any bumps in it or nails I get enough flats as it is don't need a blow out in life

ive lost 4 friends to the stuff... yet for some reason it makes me thirsty for another beer.

ive cut down a bit so hopefully ill be able to finally put it down.

Pretty sure I drank every day from 17yrs old till 25, tequila and OJ in the morning finished the days off with rum. Wrecked trucks, fighting, and a trip to the ER or jail were the norm. I went cold turkey ten years, not easy I'll be 45 in Jan. I can now have a drink and not end up acting an a$$ or end up hobbled in a cop car.

Gave it up bout 6 yrs ago, my life is a million times better. NO regrets whatsoever.
There are NO answers at the bottom of a bottle.
   If I had all the money back, that i spent on booze and dope, and probation, high risk ins. Court cost...............I dang sure wouldn't have to work all this overtime now, but thankful that im still alive to be able to.
    Have a good wife and four beautiful children, life is much better.

Just out of plain curiosity how many folks on here drink on a regular basis?...weather it be daily or once a week... I myself used to drink daily but on average now bout once a week

I drink everyday but get drunk only 4 ttimes a week. That's going to stop ain't had a drop today yet

I quit drinking 6 + years ago it was for the best like a lot of others on here I wasn't a very good person wen ur friends don't want to b around u and ur wife and kids r about 2 leave you know its bad I quit cold Turkey and never looked back if u can't do it on your own turn to the lord with enough prayer anything is possible I'm not trying. to preach to you but the lord will change your life if u ever need some 1I to talk to just call 209-620-6290

alright Ed, you GOTTA tell me that story sometime !!!

I have 3 older brothers so I was drinking heavy every day before I was old enough to.  I gave it up right around the time I turned 21 and haven't had a drink since.  I lost a lot of so called friends once I was the only one sober.  Not sure if it was because they didn't like me if I wasn't drunk or if I didn't like them when they were but I've never regretted it.

there will be bumps in the road and nails and probably other things but the key is your know their going to be there and you prepare for them and when they come your ready

I have known and worked with several 5 oclock alchoholics. It always amazed me the money spent on beer.

I drink an occasional beer or mixed drink/ Sometimes 3-4. But more often than not, I'll buy a 6 pack and wind up throw out half months later when it has gotten skunky

Personally, I think you'll be better off for quitting and to all of ya that have quit or got it under control, I am proud for ya

Some people can and some people can't, good to hear the stories of the one's that quit. You just have to find your drink or not your drink. Me,,,LOL,,,,I will be drinking wine with the good LORD someday! ;D

got in with the wrong crowd around one time in my life, started fighting for money, drinking,gambling,
and eventually i was smoking meth. :-\ Worse decision ive ever made, at the time it was " what i needed"
and now im ashamed of ever doing it but i can say after being locked up and a NDE thanks to the goodlord above i have NOT drank nor messed with ANY drugs what so ever! If u want it, you can do, its gonna be hard at times but in the end you'll be a better person and ull feel an accomplishment that no one can take away from you!!

Well 2 days without a drop. I have drank alot of unsweet tea tho

haha that becomes a habit too!
better watchout when your combining tea and fried chicken in a meal your in for a world of workout needing to be done!  :D

Just wanted to let everyone who gave me advice and a number to call if I need anything that im doing good hadn't had a drop since I started this post. My hands are a bit shacky and have headaches some days but alcohol free for now

Way to go man!!!! I think you can do this....why let drinking run your life? You have the right attitude about it for sure....good luck and I'll be praying for you.
