Title: made me made at school today
Post by: cpasket on December 14, 2011, 11:31:54 pm
Went to 1st period today and i couldn't even sit down before the teacher told me to go shave.. I told her i was trying to be like my dad and grow it out  ;) so i just went to the bathroom and waited till next period then he told me to shave and i told him he needed to shave  so i didn't go till he went and the principle  made bath of use shave  ;D I thought it was pretty funny   It is going to take me a while to get it back that long even though it wasint that long

Yea that does suck man I was sent home from school when I was 12 just because my peach fuz was darker than the other kids. I was told its intimidating and unfair to those who couldn't grow anything so I have been shaving since I was 12

I showed up to the first day of school my senior year with a full goatie and didn't even make it past the parking lot and I was told to go see the principal.  Went and they told me to shave and I said with what?  They handed me a can of barbasol and and single blade disposable razor and said have fun.  It took me about 15 minutes and a lot of cussing to shave it off but I did.  I don't know what the hang up is with facial hair in high school but they are definitely against it.

We had a dress code, but no uniforms.

Here is a copy of the current dress code for my old high school in Deer Park.

Quote
Dress Code
The district adopts the dress code to comply with its responsibility of upholding and promoting the values of the community to its students. The district believes that the Dress Code Committee and the administration, after seeking input from parents, have defined a dress code that is representative of the standards of the community.

The intent of this policy is to assist students in making choices in personal grooming and apparel which will be acceptable and appropriate for the school setting. It is not the intent of the policy to be overly restrictive; it is designed to promote safety, order, and decency and to stress good grooming so that each individual student may be proud of his own appearance, as well as the appearance of the entire student body.

Any clothing, insignia, or hairstyle that is unconventional and distracts from teaching and learning is unacceptable. The principal or designee is authorized to determine the suitability of student attire and grooming.

Hair

The hair shall be neat, clean, and well groomed.
Headbands, hair rollers, or long-handled combs shall not be worn in the hair.
Sideburns shall not extend below the ear.
Good grooming includes being clean-shaven at all times.

Clothing

Shirts/tops for both boys and girls shall be tucked into the pants/skirts at the waist.
Sweatshirts and sweaters that are appropriately sized are excluded from this requirement. Exceptions to the rule for tucking in shirts/tops include:
Campus – The campus improvement committee in conjunction with the principal may make exceptions to the requirement that shirts/tops be tucked in for the entire campus.
Individual – On the basis of individual need, a parent may make a written request to the principal for special considerations for exceptions to the requirement that shirts/tops be tucked in.
Clothing shall be appropriately sized. The principal or designee is authorized to determine what is appropriately sized.
All clothing, including dresses, skirts, and shorts, shall preserve modesty. The length must be no shorter than midpoint between fingertips and top of the knee.
Any student that violates this rule twice when wearing shorts, miniskirts, or skirts with slits may lose the privilege of wearing shorts, miniskirts, or skirts with slits for the remainder of the school year.

Unacceptable Dress

Hats, caps, or other head coverings shall not be worn or brought into the building.
Any clothing that does not preserve modesty, including, but not limited to bicycle pants, lycra/spandex clothing, athletic shorts, miniskirts, pants, or combination thereof
No oversized or baggy pants shall be permitted. Pants or shorts shall be worn at the natural waistline. (Belts may be required when deemed necessary.)
Bare backs, bare midriffs, and completely bare shoulders
    Low necklines and see-through attire
Ragged (i.e., cutoffs, unhemmed clothing, etc.), torn, or soiled clothing
Clogs, thongs (leather thongs included), bathroom slippers, and similar footwear (Shoes must be worn.)
Clothing or decoration on clothing exhibiting implicitly or explicitly suggestive words, phrases, or pictures
Clothing, apparel, or jewelry that signifies death, suicide, torture, satanism, or occult (This includes, but is not limited to, concert shirts, patches, and insignias depicting any of the above.)
Clothing or decoration on clothing implying or stating membership in a secret group or society
Clothing that implies or alludes to alcoholic beverages, narcotics, or tobacco
    Going without undergarments
Tank tops and muscle shirts - must have the layered look and shoulders must be covered with a shirt
    Earring(s) worn by boys
Nose ring(s) and similar body piercing
Long trench coat or similar clothing
Tattoos and body art of any kind must be covered at all times.

Every school I have been at has been the same way with facial hair. Here in Del Rio no mohawks or fo hawks. No hair beyond the collar. No baggy clothes or skinny jeans not even holes above the knee.

Just shave and be done with it. There are far better uses of your time then arguing with those people. Your the only one losing because they get paid to mess with you.

In all honesty... you might as well get use to it now.

Well gets you use to real life, most jobs have policy like that be it office or oil field, the only difference is if u don't get use to it now ur boss doesn't send u too the principal u just loose your job.  Shaving and and dressing nice puts u ahead I'n life it's apart of growing up.  My dad told me treat ur teachers like you would a boss yes mam and do it, then when u have a real boss makes things alot easier.
