Deuce was goin nuts in the pen tonight, so I drove from the guest house down to the barn. Him and soco were in one pen, cue dogs in the other. Deuce was at the fence by himself. Don't know what happened. Only guess I have is pigs came up close to pens (happened before), and soco hopped the fence. Been drivin around for about an hour lookin.

Turned a dog out, I think we were a couple hours late. I think that he left out around ten or earlier. Can't turn lacy out till I get some trackin collars charged. Goin back out with the pack at daylight.

Hate to hear that man I've had a couple catch dogs get cut up pretty bad going after wandering boars comin to close to the yard good luck man

When we had finally gave up on him and We finished feedin dogs, we get in the truck and Lindsay says "oh my gosh". Soco popped his head up behind a bush by the barn, got up and walked on over to us. He is shredded.

 At the vet now, he is stable and sutured up now. He has a punctured lung and broken rib, reset rib, fixed lung, stitched up, in oxygen chamber now.

Big thanks to Dr. Snyder in Terrell Tx, probably the best hog dog friendly vet in the state, the door is always open.

Thanks to Brian Helm for meetin us up here and helpin out.

Glad you found him man I hope he makes a 110% recovery! I sure like reading about them soco stories! Hopefully there will be good ones to come once he heals up!

went through that broke rib and puncture lung deal back in january.my plott jade had the same deal.she pull through with flyin colors.freaked me out when i was checkin her over.small poke hole and a missin rib.hope your dog heals fast.

The news is not good my friends, a very sad day for all of us who have hunted with this great dog. He was a giant in heart and drive and he had a bond with Taylor that is rare. I am sure Taylor will post up when he is ready.  :'(

If Paul's comment means he past, then I'm very sorry to hear it. I know what he meant to you. I sure was looking forward to seeing him work.  Take a good break and just reflect on his time he had enjoying the sport with you. It's a horrible loss, but in time, it will give you a measuring stick to judge by. May he rest in peace.

Dogs like this one are measuring stick that most dogs will not come close to, but when you find another rare one close enjoy them so much more. My nimmer dog has the bonding to both my son and I that is referred to earlier.

Sorry to hear that taylor..only saw him once but he was with out a doubt one of the hardest catchin bulldogs I've ever seen..he will be missed

Never seen the dog before, but have heard plenty...sounded like a great one.  

Guys we have lost a great friend and a great hunting partner today.  The vet did everything he could for Soco but he was cut very bad not just once but multiple times in every different direction.  Laying up all night in cold weather, was just a little too much for our good buddy.  I know allot of people have hunted behind good dogs but this was one I surely was blessed to hunt behind and I will sure miss his yelp when the dogs were bayed.  This dog of Taylor's was truly one of a kind and will always have a place in my heart for him.  I loved this dog and was truly sorry to hear that from the vet after being in the recovery for only about 3hrs.  After taking hundreds of stitches it made Soco's fight really tough.  RIP my good buddy (SOCO)

Sorry to hear that Taylor. I know I only got to see him once but that was enough to see what an awesome dog he was, and what a special bond you two had. I always looked forward to seeing your post and reading what he was getting into it. Sorry for your loss, I'll be praying for you guys.

I would like to take a moment to give my condolences to Taylor Christianson for the lose of his Dogo. He was lost from the battle of a boar hog. Not only was Soco one hell of a Dogo but he was also Taylors Buddy and compainion . I am honored to have been able to hunt behind this dog. If theres anything I can do Taylor just let me know.

I am sorry for your loss TColt, may he rest in peace.  I am glad he found ya'll and you were able to hug his neck (I am sure) one last time.  I always enjoyed reading about the little Dogo with a huge heart.

RIP Soco, I never hunted with him, but like most people Ive heard about him.  Brian spoke highly of him when Ive hunted with Brian.  Sorry for your loss. Prayers sent your way.

I sure hate to hear it, I don't know Taylor and never hunted with Soco but I know how it is to lose not just a hunting dog but a companion. I lost my cd Buddy a year ago in Feb. and I still miss him loading up whenever I walk toward the truck. RIP Soco, it sounds like you were a great one.

Taylor, very sorry to hear about what happened to Soco. Hadn't check the board all weekend and woke up and just couldn't believe what I was reading.  I only hunted with the lil guy once but I liked what I saw.  I can tell from the stories you told about him that he was a special dog, it must be extra tough since for so long he was the only hunting dog you had.  I definitely feel for your loss man, RIP Soco.

I had the pleasure to be aprt of many hunts will ol Soco and he was one of the best I have ever seen. He was a hog catchin machine and will be missed.

This is heart wrenching.  I, just like everyone else all ways enjoyed the SOCO pictures and hunts.  He was such a great looking dog.  Sorry for your loss. 

I gaurantee that!  Ive seen him tangle with some big ones over the years for an hour or so and not wear down.  I wouldn't doubt that big boar is in hoggy hell!  I remember the only thing you could whoop that dog over was when the dogs where baying ol Soco would wine and cry saying turn me loose...  I'm talking go crazy till then....  Man I'm going to miss seeing that.

 I am so very sorry to hear of Soco's passing. You have my deepest sympathies. We will all miss reading about his hunting adventures.

Thanks everyone for the reply's, i will be passing it on the Taylor as I'm sure he hasn't been logging on.  There are a great group of people here and we sure appreiciate all the sympathy!  About 2 weeks from now or so we will be tearing up the woods in Memory of SOCO!  THanks again everyone!!

Thats the way to go Brian, in memory of SOCO!!!!!  I hope time helps to heal this wound for yall and I'm sure SOCO's memory will live on forever.  Hope yall have a Merry Christmas Brian and tell your buddy Taylor prayers are sent his way from North Central Texas!!!!

I haven't been on here much lately so I missed the post about Soco getting out until just now. Makes me sick to hear about his passing. I don't know most of y'all being from out East, but we are all dog people and that makes us family to me....Taylor I so regret to hear about your dog....know that I will be praying for you and your family.

Taylor I am truly sorry for the loss. I remember seeing soco find, catch, and hold that 250 pound boar by Lubbock by himself. And he saved our butts when that daddy didn't marry mommy charged us.  That soco dog got me hooked on this sport and will never be forgotten.  I'm sorry for the loss bc he truly was a legend.
