Not saying there aren't any, but if Rots were as consistently as good as your pits, americans & (cough cough) dogos, then everybody would be using them. I would just stick to those 3 breeds if I were you.

I kno someone who tried a couple of them. Didnt work out. He said they had poor heat tolerance and tended to fight the hogs. The last time out with them the hog smacked one of the dogs.. the dog ran away, but kept looking behind to make sure the hog wasnt chasin him.

I worked Rotts as guard dogs and know they could catch a hog. But I would never use one. Something in the personallity of the dog says there is only one person that can touch their collar. That is a real problem when getting the dog off a pig. It is in the genes so much that Germans that used them when taking cattle to market would put the money on the dogs' collars so they could get drunk and nobody could steal the money. There was no way anyone could hold one of my Rotts without me standing there saying it was ok.

I owned a half rott and half ab. she was a good cd. sold her to someone on this forum, she died catching for him and he said she was a great cd. I wouldnt use a pure bred rott, Ive seen Muleman make too many turn belly up and cur out....a hog could do the same in my opinion. Be it a German shepard or rottweiler guard dog there is a reason we use bulldogs.

I dont think a rott would add too much to the pit or ab, maybe size but I think he would take away more of the desirable traits.  Probabaly end up with some mediocre dogs at best.
