I hunted with a guy in the panhandle that had 2 and they were some of the best dogs I have seen,I would give them a try.

that all i needed to know....
my buddy bought 2 suppose of hog dog stock... but they suppose to be loose bay dog..

Yea! Heck tried to give you bessy at one time. Glad I didn't! Got me a new project now tho.

I have a 1/2 cat& 1/2 weimaraner and he is a good strike dog and very very gritty almost strait catch!!

The 2 I hunted with were gritty as hell and could run like a deer.

they were bred to run boar and hunt birds...

Never hog hunted with 1 but had 1 from the time I was born till I was 16 and that was 1 mean SOB when it came to hunting anything his favorite was bird hunting but would get after just about anything coons fox possum even ran every now and then 1 of the smartest dogs I have ever seen.  I think if you start then young they will do anything 

We had one for a little while, LONG winded, fast, good nose and grit to them as well...

never hunted behind one,but if i were to shoot for a experiment id go that route...

I had one for 15 years. He would bay and catch for me. I have noticed that it is important to look for one that has no bird hunting genes. It is a pain in the rear when a dog points at the hog insted of baying while by its self. I never had a problem hunting 2 dogs with pointing allways lots of bay. I had to put him dowm at the age of 15 due to bad hips. These dogs cost a lot to own.

boy you need to get your dogs going good before ya go messing with somebody elses dogs

i had a buddie that wanted a pig we brought him a 150 lb boar r s and his three wimeriner house dogs were out and as soo as they seen the hog they went to work the male cought threw the pen bu the 2 females were gritty as hell id really like to try one my self just havn found the style i like yet his didnt look so bird dog his were a little bigger and muscler

Well the dogs dad was a hog dog said he had a soft mouth thats why he didnt hunt them. The mom was a bird dog so they might be looking in the sky every now and then. Im ganna try and start them later next week and hopefully theyll turn on.

Well never hunted with one but my buddy got one about a week ago ain't worked it yet, so will see.

Somebody go pick it up, it may be the beginning of a new era in hog hunting. You cast the dog, he strikes, catches and brings it back to you.

at one time or another I have liked both breeds... :)

So he crossed both of them to a plottxweiner dog and made himself a mtn. cur!!  ;D

T-Bob...you know there are culls in every breed :o ???it is all coming back to me now...hard starting over with a bloodline...lots of culls in the mtn cur breed...too many are bred like feist dogs and close range...the old time mtn cur was bred for coon, squirrel, bear, and boar and for anything else in general which is a concept I like but too many are breeding away from this type of dog...
