Read this over on the Texas Hunting Forum. I know things can happen and dogs don't know boundaries but be careful where you are hunting. This guy isn't very happy and we don't need a couple of people messing it up for all of us. Hunt responsibly! Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: Logan-99 on January 12, 2012, 04:20:42 pm Looks like a sticky situation there! its incredible how many people are ok with shooting dogs and support it! but i do see where they are coming from.. :o
Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: RyanTBH on January 12, 2012, 04:36:56 pm That just upsets me... People need to think about if their "pet" got shot, tresspassing or not! What happens if their dog gets out, and goes rommping around somewhere they are not supposed to be and gets shot?? Bet you they'd be pissed! Oh well, thats why if my dogs go onto a piece of land that I KNOW I do not have permission to be on I will find a front door to a house and ask for permission, or call the GW to come help assist.
Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: TX HOG on January 12, 2012, 05:00:15 pm They seem to be trigger happy. If they shot my dog I'd take em to criminal and civil court. Win or lose, they would spend lots of time and money in court. In the end they would lose and wouldn't pull the trigger again.
Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: Black Hog 69 on January 12, 2012, 05:26:38 pm Well there it is !!! Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: charles on January 12, 2012, 08:03:39 pm Black hog, i hope im nvr in the predicerment u were in, but if so. That person who shoots my dog/s will hav more than a burnt barn n possibly need a casket. I do my best to keep my dogs chained or kenneled, but #2 happens n dogs will get off chains or outa kennels. I think some of my dogs hav a lil monkey in them. Got 2 that will climb so i gotta keep them chained n kenneled. Its gonna suck for whoever malitiously shoots or kills my dogs. Them dogs cant read
Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: driller1987 on January 12, 2012, 08:46:34 pm Charles if u knew this man u would say he is a nut. But still he has no reason to shoot any body dog. Just say hey man would u put ur dog up. An that would have been it but noooooo he had to shoot her point blank. An ruin the best dog he got

Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: M Bennet on January 12, 2012, 09:06:06 pm what is worse? dog getting stolen. or one getting shot?
Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: bullet72 on January 12, 2012, 09:07:56 pm stolen. takes a real pecker head to steal
Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: Tusk Hog on January 12, 2012, 09:12:52 pm Tell you how sorry some landowners are today. One of my neighbors border collies showes up at my place. I call the dog's owner, they are out of state. So being a good neighbor I take the dog home for them. My dog crosses their fence and walks up to them, they kill mine. Rich a$$ holes are what most land owners are today. Too many what if's to charge them.
Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: josh54 on January 12, 2012, 09:14:41 pm bullet72 unfortunately im from Merkel bout 30 miles east of sweetwater and everyone in this area is like that. ive personally had two shot. Its all because a few young punks screwed it up for everyone. Im young myself but wouldnt do any of the stuff that most of them do. Guy i graduated had a pit that he turned onto a prized buckin bull calf. It was a son of little yellow jacket. Just laughed when he realized it wasnt a pig. The calf went lame so he let his pit kill it. Needless to say he didnt have permission actually but the lock to get in. Now i cant find anyone that'll let me run dogs around here

Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: rdjustham on January 13, 2012, 07:35:22 am Every time i see this topic come up (which it does regularly) i cringe. It never fails, people get upset, then the "What Ifs" start. I would be extremly upset if one of my dogs were shot, at MYSELF. After all it is my responsibility to ensure their safety, but i will say this:
It makes hog doggers sound ignorant to say "If one of my dogs are shot i would cut the person's throat". Seriously? Why would anyone think its ok to kill a person for killing a dog? I understand some people post that out of frustration, but think of how it makes us look as a whole. The mods are always on here telling us people use this site against us, so please even if you THINK (and i use the word think, because shooting a person aint the same as shooting a dog, deer, hog etc..) you would do that... DONT POST IT.. Mods, why not shut these topics down when they start goin down this road.. It jsut makes us all look bad. OH THIS WAS NOT MEANT AS A DEBATE ITS MY OPINION, IM ENTITLED TO IT, AND WILL NOT POST FURHTER ON THIS SUBJECT. Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: ca10j on January 13, 2012, 08:57:44 am The anger that we experience when primed with these topics is not by any means deplorable. In fact , i think it shows the other side of the hunters; the side that cares about the dogs as best friends and kids. People want us to stop because they wrongfully assume that the hog is worth more then our dogs to us. Our dogs are not simply means to an end. Yes they do get us hogs but we each care about our dogs as an end in and of themselves and i think the ager and aggression we experience when we see topics about shot dogs actually exposes the "soft" side of us. The fatherly side; It actually shows people that this is a passion that we thoroughly enjoy and we care about our dogs. People think we load up our dogs everyday, drop them in a field and if some dont come back then o-well, THAT IS SIMPLY NOT THE CASE.

Why not use the "Report to Moderator" button that is on the bottom of every thread if you have an issue with something? We don't always read every thread and post... Just click the button, then every mod gets a notification to look over a thread. For what it's worth, I agree that these types of threads with posts about retaliation are pretty dumb. The guys that are going to do something, don't talk about it. What i was saying though was a reply to the poster who said us getting angry at people shooting our dogs is giving us a bad name. When in reality that is not the case. Although we act all gun hoe so would the people who downtalk hunting if their pet was shot. Because to many of us our hunting dogs are also our best friends. Figured something like this had already been read, and or followed. I apologize if it came off as you guys arent doing anything. Not my intention. I just responded to your PM, but I'll go ahead and address it in public too. There are a half dozen or so mods on ETHD, some of us with more free time than others. I can only speak for myself, I am not interested in reading about hounds vs. curs, BMC vs. Cat, or watching videos of a dog in a baypen... So I don't click on those posts that don't interest me. I can only assume the same to be the case with the rest of the mods. If I see a thread with a rapidly climbing post count, I'll peek in to see what's going on. Basically, I am saying that we miss a lot of what goes on here, and rely on the members to use the notify moderator tab, so that we can be made aware of questionable posts that we might have missed. Title: Re: Trespassers Beware Post by: whenthetailgatedrops on January 17, 2012, 08:21:54 pm Well, being a policeman at a very large police department in East Texas, I sure feel sorry for the man that shoots mine. Garmin is a really nice thing to have so I can guarantee I will have been close if it happens. Yes it is a third degree felony to shoot someone's dog in this state unless protecting property, livestock or yourself. Pretty easy to prove in court when you have six dogs and all are tempered/trained the same. Good luck this year fellas and I hope none of yall has this problem.
