I feed mine once a week weather they need it or not ;D

It dont hurt to water them every once in a while either....

I fed mine last friday, might get to feed them again this weekend sometime. Its a little hard to drive 3 hrs one way to feed them everyday!

they will eat next time i hunt if they catch some thing  ;D

Yep, feed once a week and i squirt em with the hose pipe every once a while too!

Joking about feeding dogs once a week or if they catch anything might seem funny (actually I think it is) but remember hunters aren't the only ones that read these forums....

Who said we were joking? I do only feed my dogs on the weekends. My parents or sister feeds them through the week while I'm at school, but I assure you my dogs are fed well even if I'm not feeding them.

Sadly... There are some out there that need to pay attention to this. Just plain sad.

I know the is super thin dogs out there and there is dogs that arnt fed right , but there is also dogs that are taken care of that just look that way , you never know which one your looking at your just pointing fingers , I had a dog that always looked like it was starving and I feed way to much and on top of everything else , I gave the dog to a friend and hunt with it every weekend it is three and hasent changed yet so what I guess im getting at is you cant just jump to conclusions unless you really know what your talking about

Well said Bob! It's very hard sometime to tell the difference between a poor dog and one that is worked hard, that is until the tail gate drops and you see the hardened dog get to work. It's hard to judge strictly off of pictures

If you can count ribs and see its backbone and hips bones then you either not feeding the dog or it's got something else wrong with it and it needs to go the vet! These dogs work their a$$es off for you at least you could feed them and take care of them if they are sick! JMO

I've got a plott/cat cross that gets fed more than everything else and is wormed regularly. Don't matter what I do she always looks thin to me. I've tried switching feed for her and everything. She never looses energy and runs wide open all the time. Just skinny I guess. I've chalked it up to high metabolism. Lol

 exactly a dog in good running shape is healthy looking and has a well rounded appearance . if you can't keep it that way with feed their is something going on with it's digestive system and may need some enzymes added to it's feed to help it process the protiens in the feed . no excuse for bones sticking out on a dog period . if you can't keep weight on your dog have it checked out by a vet and explain the situation . they will help you remedy the problem with an enzyme supplement or some probiotics .

Not necessarily. We have some dogs that get hunted hard and look as you describe. Not because they are missused or neglected. They are simply atheletes and look the part!!

Case in point.. You can see these dogs ribs and hip bones but they are hardened from hunting 2 or 3 times a week. Not misfed or malnourished. There's a difference when dogs look like that and are in running shape.

shelly your dogs have a well rounded appearance . and look conditioned . but i think you know whats they are talking about . some people call a dog in running shape that look like they been lost in the woods for a week or so . and the hip bones are protruded and you can tell they have no muscle mass in da a$$

Shelly I think your dogs look good, I'm talking about seriously skinny dogs that are obvisously not fed properly or taken care of! Some people have dogs so skinny you can actually count each ribs and vertebra on the backbone, it's ridiculous and they should not own dogs much less ask that dog to hunt for them! again JMO

Some dogs are hard keepers no matter how much you feed em. Can't really judge a fellow based on what 1 dog looks like.

I start to judge after i see 5 or 6 dogs that look like shiat. It makes me pretty mad when i see this.  >:(

I started feeding these two when i saw the original post....now i just need someone to post up and tell me when to stop!
