Title: Dog got hit Post by: nate on April 02, 2009, 08:38:34 pm I have a pit that got hit by a hog. The wounds is swollen and dripping a mix of pus and blood. I washed it out with peroxide. What else should I do? The hole is not deep.

Large open wounds, try and flush with water for several minutes once or twice a day. On small wounds, I just flush with betedine, as long as it's draining, it should be fine.

I would use a anti bacterial soap and water. Also hydro therapy would be really good. Just run water on it for like 5 or 10 minutes. Penicillin is not the best for flesh wounds. cephilexin would be much better. They are a green pill and come in 50 mg. Two pills in the am and two in the pm, so a total of 200 mg a day for ten days would be your best bet.
