Nevermind... the power of google  rolleyes ;D

... pretty cool, found this site that sells both plug and "twist" tobacco... I've read about the twist tobacco, but never seen it... "the oldest form of chewing tobacco, whole green leaves braided together into a rope then cured... originally devised by sailors to combat the dangers of smoking at sea..."  I love old chit like this  ;D

Here is the site I found that sells both.. think I'm gonna get me some Levi-Garret plugs and some "King-B twists"  :D

I found a store a few years ago that sold the Levi garret plug and I had to buy some because I had never seen it before. It wasnt any different than just a regular bag. It was just compressed and in a smaller pouch. I couldn't tell a different in the taste or quality. jmo

How's that plug stuff hold up?  How do you carry it, in your back pocket?

Cotton bowl twist - separates the men from the boys, days o'work is about as tuff. Stokers was the best but I'm not sure of you can find it any more or not. Red Horse is also another nice one that is pretty sweet tasting if that's you thing.

Levi plug in your check, Copenhagen in ur front lip, and a cold DrPepper.  Hard to beat.  You get the 23 flavors of DP, and 2 more from some tobacco = Awesomeness.

Noah, Fred Stoker and son co. has some pretty good tobacco.. I chewed it for years because you can buy it in bulk and pretty sure they make a plug...If you've never chewed plug before i recommend taking a small piece to start with because it's compressed and will expand about 4 times ots size when you start chewing....First chew my buddy took of mine, he didn't listen to me and like to have choke hisself  .......

stoker company is in dresden tn , about 30 minutes from me . when i was a kid everybody raised a little" tabacker " for cash , when i was a little feller in the 80's my dad owned a feed store, it was losing money because all the farmers were going broke . we lived off 2 acres of tobbaco and pigs we sold from 5 sows .

since the givernment buy out , only a few have  all the tobacco.

we used to take leaves out of the barn , pull the big stems out and make it into a twist . a twist is better if its aged a year or so . its pretty stout but you can't get that flavor from the store .

a summer in the tobacker patch will seperate the men from the boys ... and make men out of boys , its the only crop that takes 13 months out of a year to produce . i think everybody would be better off if they had spent some time working in the feild to make some weekend spending money growing up .

noah , try old joe twist and bull o the woods plug .  thats as close as you'l get to natural .

Hey bud,....I don't even know if it's still made and sold anymore but my Dad used to chew 'Black Maria' plug. Label had a couple of natives, as in African natives on it. I haven't seen it in years. I've chewed King B twist and some others years ago,....this twist is gonna take some getting used to if you've never had it before.....it's dry as a chip and you have to soak it (in your mouth) awhile to get it where you can chew it.

In the book "The Way it Was"... as the Sheriff is transporting Mose Barber's young son to court on a boat in the Saint John's river... the young man is nervous and asks for a chaw off a bar of tobacco... the sherrif obliges and snaps it off in the boy's mouth... ripping his lip in the process... baaaad mistake....

Cajunl, I been tryin' to "class" myself up with the scotch and see-garrs for years... neither of which I can stand lol!!!!  ... but I wish I did!!!!

JDT, is telling the truth. Thats how most folks made a living around here was raisin bacr and milking cows, now the government screwed that all up, now hardly see any bacr patches. Ive spent many hot daylight to dark days spraying, topping, cutting and spudin and hanging bacr.
Definitely separate the men from the boys, or make a man out of ya. was always a job opening, didnt pay all that good. Think it was $2.50-$3.00 hr when I started.
The best part was dinner time, depending on who you worked for, the women would spend all day cooking for all the workers,  man you talkin about good.

Oh yeah, that twist will separate the men from the boys too, LOL
My pap carried a twist for years, till he quit altogether, bout all the oldtimers chewed was a twist, men and women. My mamas still dips brute snuff, that stuff is rough too.
All of the above mentioned are good, if you can find it.
