Title: Catdo Post by: cantexduck on April 09, 2009, 12:18:10 pm Anyone here have one? I got one from Mason's last litter. I hate the waiting game. She should be ready after summer to hit some hogs.
Title: Re: Catdo Post by: BarrNinja on April 09, 2009, 01:38:30 pm I promise Im not trying to be a smart a$$ here.
What is a catdo? Title: Re: Catdo Post by: slimpickins on April 09, 2009, 01:42:27 pm I believe it is a catahoula Dogo cross that Mr. Mason has been perfecting for about 15 years.
Title: Re: Catdo Post by: BarrNinja on April 09, 2009, 01:49:37 pm Yeah I think you are right. I just did a word search and thats what it looks like to me.
Sounds like a nasty cross for hogs to me. Title: Re: Catdo Post by: dabutcher on April 09, 2009, 03:46:29 pm i've seen 2 of his work and they're definitely nice dogs..... he had 2 older ones (1 catchin and the other ready to start catchin) whenever i was over there last. Rock(already catchin) and a female (don't remember name). he may part with one. never hurts to ask. i know he kept 2 pups from the last litter he had so he get rid of one to make room for the starters pretty soon.
shoot him a PM or call him. Title: Re: Catdo Post by: Txmason on April 09, 2009, 06:37:09 pm Mike,
Here is Apachie, the one I kept out of the litter yours is from. (http://www.txmasoncatahoulas.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_Catdo_male_3-8-09.jpg) Here is the site with a lot of Catdo's and Richards is on there that is a brother to yours also. http://www.txmasoncatahoulas.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=23&page=1 If you want to get rid of her I'll buy her back. This is her litter mate sister; (http://www.txmasoncatahoulas.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_IMG_0390.JPG) If you would send me a picture I'll put it on the web site. Title: Re: Catdo Post by: nosightsneeded on April 09, 2009, 06:51:40 pm to Mr. Mason after 15 years breeding them do all the dogs stay 50/50 or do you introduce a pure bred every so often?
Title: Re: Catdo Post by: cantexduck on April 09, 2009, 09:28:34 pm Mr. Mason,
I am in no way looking to get rid of her. I was just seeing if anyone else on the site besides Richard has one. I will get a pic this weekend. Title: Re: Catdo Post by: wfk1 on April 09, 2009, 09:52:07 pm Nice looking dogs i like that cross a lot.
Title: Re: Catdo Post by: dabutcher on April 09, 2009, 10:04:37 pm Nice looking dogs i like that cross a lot. the pics don't really do em justice. Apachie is one FINE lookin dog. lotsa color to em. and i've seen both Victor (sold) and Rock work and man i really like em. real athletic dogs, with alot of leg, and they anchor real well. i was surprised by how well they do cause every catch dog i've seen has always had a lot of size to em. these dogs aren't small (they look to weigh 60-65lbs) but they ain't 80-100lbs either. but man do they do their job. Title: Re: Catdo Post by: cantexduck on April 10, 2009, 07:12:20 am Thats ok. I kind of like her.. Say hi to Taywanda O0.
Title: Re: Catdo Post by: wfk1 on April 10, 2009, 08:50:18 pm Do you ever breed the Catdos back to the Dogos? Thanks
Title: Re: Catdo Post by: Txmason on April 11, 2009, 08:19:41 am No, I never have, I have only used two Dogo females in the last 11 years and two Catahoula males and I have the right mix of manners, size, speed, and catch that I want. I have found that I don't need a 100 plus catch dog and the think brush can be handled better by a 80 pound leggie fast dog.
Catch dogs are like any dogs, just depends on what you like. Title: Re: Catdo Post by: NThoghunter on April 11, 2009, 08:15:28 pm Here is my male from the same litter. Pic almost a month old and he has grown a bunch!

I had him on a lead while we were working some curs in Mr Masons pen last weekend and he was standing on his back two legs trying to get to the bay when the curs opened up. That was the first bay he had heard to date. He also dang near pulled my arm off when we had a pig ran by 30 yds in front of us. I'm almost went "one out" but am going to let him grow up a little more before that goes down. ;)
