it's a black and tan black mouth cur...but if you have dyslexia then it is ok to call one a reverse bmc... ;D

I'm 99% certain that pup will be saddleback by the time it's a year old.  All mine are born like that, but when you can see light hair on their face (as you can see on that pup on the bridge of it's nose) they will lighten up.

Hmmm! Learn something new every day. Heard of black and tan Catahoulas but not Black and Tan BMC's. Purty anyway!  ;D

I know "reverse" isn't the correct terminology for a full blood yella black mouth cur that comes out black with yella trim, what's an easy name that even the old timers called them when they first saw them come out in one of their full blooded yella dogs? I know some come out saddle back but would that go for the ones that have alot more black then just a saddle?

I know it is common terminology...but I just can't see the reverse in the color, I see a black and tan or if the dark color looks like a saddle it is a saddleback but some will call them high tans...

 a catahoula cur from years back...nowadays it is a catahoula...

All my Catahoulas are black and Tan like that. Except the tan is brindle. Merle is overrated lol

Those are Tonya and Justins pups! I had two from a previous litter that both died untimely unfortunate circumstances. Real nice young dogs, the male especially. He was switched on from birth it seems, he had terrier attitude in a cur body and I liked the hell out of him. I'm getting a bitch pup out of that litter when I get back home, take good care of those pups, I'd like to see them do well.

Those dogs will also be capable of producing ridgebacked Yellers.

Ridgeback gene must have gotten in to the blood I'm guessing? Or did a gyp slip behind the wood pile one night

I'll tell you my in laws had a 20 pound jerker with a ridged back, it wasn't from no ridgeback cross, it's just a genetic defect thats relatively harmless and some folks have decided to keep and carry on from my readings on the subject.

Yeh I talked to them about the line alot. And I was told that the reverse came from 9 generations back. And they have been tightly breeding these dogs for the past 9 years. Realy good people too. I like the fire they have! They'll be 6 weeks tmro and neither one wants to back down from the other

I've read on here about some people culling the ridgeback pups why is that?

This pup saddle back  keeps getting darker.  Her dad was a reverse but nothing but black mouth cur in the blood line.  I've got high hopes for her.

Jared- the mama dog to my pups I collored like ur pup. The owners called her a "smutty" or "dirty" ybmc. She came from two full blood yellas as well. Good looking pup bud.
