Looks like the beginning of a good program.

I've got a 2 yr old in training right now with Jason Grimme. She is a daughter of Dry N Shiney, out of a $earner daughter of Hollywood Dunnit crossed over a Brenna's kid mare.

My plan right now is give her a heck of a show career beginning with Congress next year, and then cross her with Chromed Out Mercedes, It's Smokin Time, and Dun It Quick.

Thought I would share pics of that colt now that he has grown, a lot. Lol. He is almost 4 months old and is already having to squat to nurse, and his momma ain't no slouch at 15 hands.

Riley, you don't know what ugly is, and of course he's ugly. Show me a 4 month old colt who isn't in that awkward ugly duckling stage and I'll show you a photoshopped picture.

What's wrong with a filly? That's what I was hoping for and got a colt.

As far as the story behind the mare.....   My ex-basta-- I mean ex-husband and I bought her in 2006 from a guy that lives somewhere in east Texas. He owns Rocking W Rodeo and she was one of his back up pick-up horses. He sold her when he replaced her with a bigger gelding but she was broke broke broke and would kill herself if you asked her to. When we split up a year later he wouldn't let me have her, so I didn't see her for almost 2 years while we fought over everything in court. To say the least, I wound up getting her back. The day the papers were finalized Maurice and I loaded up and headed to Abilene to get her. Things got pretty tense when I called the ex to tell him we were on our way to get "Kitty". He informed me that he didn't have a mare named "Kitty", just one named "Katie"  rolleyes  After the sheriff's department gave him a call he changed his mind. Anyway, We get to the pasture to get her and she comes hobbling  :o up to me. The poor mare's right knee was about the size of a football, and she weighed a whopping 600ish lbs, at 15 hands tall. I was PISSED. It took everything I had, as well as a little convincing from Maurice to keep me from killing the ex where he stood. I literally cried as I loaded her. Anyway, fast forward a few months, she started putting on weight, we took her to the vet and found out that her knee was totally screwed. She isn't in any pain, but one of the joints had fused, so she can't really bend it anymore hence the reason she limps. Fast forward a few more months and I remembered why we bought her in the first place. I got a phone call from a friend of mine that owns a slaughter house, a bunch of show calves waiting on their "day" had tore out of the pen at his house and were running rampant in the subdivision he lives in. Ever tried to pen 60+ SHOW calves (have no fear) on horses? LOL It was defiantly entertaining. The gelding I had borrowed from a friend of mine wound up being a total freak, so, I went and caught ole Kitty. By this point she hadn't been ridden in over 6 months, and had been getting a high powered feed, plus alfalfa hay poured to her so I was expecting her to be a little, um frisky. I decided to take it easy on her weight wise because of her knee, so I climb on bareback. The old girl never missed a lick. She hit a slow lope after a group of calves and never checked up. By the end of the day she and I were both exhausted and very sore, but the calves were back at home safely. After that we decided she could just be a Momma and pass that good mind onto a few babies until she either gets old and leaves us for the big green pasture, or her knee gets to the point where she just can't take anymore, whichever comes first.

Sorry if I rambled, just a really special girl to me.

I'll give you that Tusk. Everyone always talks about how good a gelding is, and while I have ridden 1 good gelding in my life. I've ridden a bunch of great mares. IMHO, a gelding just doesn't have the natural "B*tch" that a mare does, meaning that he will give up before a mare does. She is gonna fight with everything she has where a gelding won't. But that's just my opinion.
