Title: Cigarettes... Post by: RyanTBH on April 13, 2012, 11:00:39 am I had to tell someone, so I figured why not the board...? LOL! ;D
I QUIT!!!! Been smoking almost 14 years, and I can finally say that I am done with them... I still kinda want one, but I'm done with em! It's been 2 weeks since I bought a pack. I used an E-Cig for the first week and a half, then I put it all down. Now I'm on day three with no nicotine at all, and can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. To those that want to quit, get one of those e-cigs... it helps break the monotonous day in day out, and helped me a bunch!!! I'm so glad that I can say that I was able to put them down. I felt beat for the longest, but now I feel great! Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: HDMdogs on April 13, 2012, 11:02:21 am ive quit after 6 years of smoking, u will start feeling better everyday.

Post by: Oly on April 13, 2012, 11:25:00 am I just quit flat out cold turkey---got tired of wasting my money in them cancer sticks---it’s been well over 2 years now ---smoke free--- I’ll never smoke again
I promised myself I would not be a reformed smoker preaching at everyone that chooses to smoke and I don’t, BUT I do tell smokers to step/keep a bit of distance from me because the smell is now so repulsive to me it makes me throw up ---I do not know why it’s so nasty smelling to me now--- Anyhow quiting was NOT as hard as I thought it be once I set my mind on it. O Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: Oly on April 13, 2012, 11:25:30 am OHHHH and BIG CONGRATS Ryan---keep up the fight Sir.
Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: t.wilbanks on April 13, 2012, 11:31:37 am Good Job Ryan!! Now you wont stink anymore!! Post by: uglydog on April 13, 2012, 11:36:30 am WEll I want to Tell you and JLS , and All, QUITTERS, CONGRATS! I am nearing 1 year smoke free myself, after 25 years + smoker. its not easy. I am so very glad I did and I am serious advocate to others now because I feel the benefits other than the weight gain which I am still fighting and now winning slowly.
I can breathe better going in the woods! I know my dogs think I smell better, and dont have to smell that smoke. Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: Oly on April 13, 2012, 11:39:47 am Krystal is MY HERO--- good job.
Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: jls41 on April 13, 2012, 12:02:35 pm CONGRATS Ryan!!! Isn't it awesome to be a "QUITTER"??? Just take it one day at a time and you can make it through. I am on day 38 and it is getting easier. The urges are still there but you find ways of handling them differently than lighting up. I smoked for 27 years and when I couldn't catch my breath, it was time to put them down. Like Krystal said, the weight gain is the worst but that will be fixed in time. I am like Oly - cigarette smoke now smells bad enough it nauseates me and I thought it never would. Anyway, keep up the awesome work and welcome to the club!!!
Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: Oly on April 13, 2012, 12:06:28 pm Honestly for me QUITING the cursing has been much harder then when I quit smoking, maybe it’s because it’s harder to get away from it then smoking---now a day’s almost everyone has a foul mouth (me included) and have no issues with it what so ever, I NOW have developed an issue with it and try so hard but seem to always get caught---the change is I get embarrassed now when I do curse as before I didn’t care much... My goal is to not curse at all even when in a stressful moment.

Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: RyanTBH on April 13, 2012, 12:18:40 pm Thanks everyone! It's a blessing a a disguise... I think... LOL! No, it's getting easier everyday. I think I am more happy that I'm not held down by anything anymore though. I have been able to quit doing most of things I've started ( >:D ) but this was like crack to a crack head for me! I felt like it was ruling me, and thta will happen never again!!! I appreciate the support guys and gals!

Quote cigarette smoke now smells bad enough it nauseates me and I thought it never would. I felt the same way. Can't be within 5 ft of one now. It is a strange addiction. I cant stand them now....but even after 3 years there are certain situation where I will still crave a cig? Smoking is a very strong monkey on your back! Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: jon on April 13, 2012, 04:07:33 pm i quit smoking however and picked up dipping x2Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: BigNoseKate on April 13, 2012, 05:43:51 pm That's wonderful! Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: Reuben on April 13, 2012, 06:24:28 pm Good Job Quote cigarette smoke now smells bad enough it nauseates me and I thought it never would. I felt the same way. Can't be within 5 ft of one now. It is a strange addiction. I cant stand them now....but even after 3 years there are certain situation where I will still crave a cig? Smoking is a very strong monkey on your back! x2...they say it is one of the hardest drug habit to quit...took me about 4 or 5 years to quit craving one after a few beers...also the first couple years it was hardest after a meal because the craving would bother me the most right after I ate... congrats everyone... 8) :) Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: tnhillbilly on April 13, 2012, 06:41:20 pm Congratulations to all who has kicked the habit. I smoked like a freight train for about 17 years. Just decided I didnt want my kids breathing all that smoke so I just put them down.
The first 3 weeks was the worse. I think the habit of putting your hands to your mouth is harder to break than the nicotine. I found myself reaching for my cigs months after I quit. That where the weight gain comes in. And I too put on on a few pounds. I can tell who smokes a mile away now, and like everyone else it makes me very nauseous. Ill never forget one time my preacher saI'd that he wont preach against smoking, because he couldn't find it in the bible that smoking would send you to hell, but it would make you smell like you've been there. LOL Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: firemedic on April 13, 2012, 08:52:53 pm Well congratulations for putting them down for good......to everyone that has done that. Good for you. I tried it when I was a teenager and just didn't like it....still don't. But I did dip for most of my adult life until about 6 years ago. Had a strange thing happen to me then, I had gotten a cold and as most folks will tell you....you don't want a dip when you have a head cold. However, when I recovered from the cold and started dipping again....it didn't taste right.....and never did get back to the way it tasted prior to the cold.....so I just quit. Simple as that.....tried it a few time since then but it still doesn't taste right......guess I'm lucky in that respect.
Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: djhogdogger on April 13, 2012, 08:58:35 pm Congradulations. I have never smoked but my parents did and I know how hard it was for them to quit. Keep up the good work. :) Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: CentralTex 254 on April 14, 2012, 12:07:02 am I quit smoking then started dipping due to the job I was at. Then I started smoking and dipping. Got promoted needed more nicotine lol. That was two months ago. The hardest part for me was the first week. After that tons more energy and I want to do more .
Title: Re: Cigarettes... Post by: Hog Dog Mike on April 14, 2012, 07:44:02 pm If you ever need something extra to help you quit go to a rehab class for emphysema patients. It is pitifull. And, the thing about it is that is as good as they are going to get.
