I figure I am not the only one that was confused as a child. So I thought I would start a thread on really funny things adults say that confuse kids.

When I was a kid I remeber they adults saying that one of my uncles did not drink. I thought he must get real thirsty so being a kid I knew I must be confused so I asked and it went something like this:

Me: So he does not drink at all even when he is thirsty?
Parents: No he does not drink at all.

Me: Not even one little sip every now and then?
Parent: No, not even one lttle sip.

Me: He does not drink any day ever and he never will drink?
Parents: No he never ever drinks and never will.

So I walked away wondering why he never looked thirsty and figured he must eat lots of watermelon ;D

I can remember my parents and relatives talking about a couple that were friends of the family....seems the guy 'ran off' with another woman. I asked about it and was told that he had run off with this other woman and left his wife. I couldn't understand just where it was that they had run off to. I finally concluded that there must undoubtedly be a place that folks went when they ran off together.....it was quite confusing to me as a kid, I couldn't understand why his wife didn't just go get him when it was time for supper, like everyone's Mom did when you were gone from home too late. Oh,.....he eventully came back home and took back up with his wife and they lived to a ripe old age together....still never did find out where folks ran off to though. ???

When my sons were about 6-7 I was giving them the dad to son handshake lesson. It went like this
Me-  ok, a firm grip, pronounce your name clearly and most importantly ,LOOK ME IN THE EYE!

6 yr old gives me a good firm grip, pronounces his name clearly then leans in on me and licks the side of my face up to my eye!!

Me- " have you lost your mind, what the heck r u doing?!!!
poor boy had a very bewildered look on his face, like he was about to cry,
My 7 yr old calmly states that I had instructed them to " lick me in the eye".

Nope ;D But I am better than most because at least I know that I am confused. Most people don't know they are confused rolleyes I can laugh at myself too.

hahaha , when we were kids they'd tell us , " don't play in the fire or you'll wet the bed " !

   i was grown and telling my own kids that ; when all of a sudden i realized that was just what you told kids to keep them from playing in the fire . lol
