Title: dry runs?? Post by: sike-ohunter on June 18, 2012, 04:21:30 am Just trying to get some opinions been having alot of dry runs lately and was wondering if it was better to just keep puting the dogs in the woods or just hold off on hunting for a while

Title: Re: dry runs?? Post by: Jmesonp1 on June 18, 2012, 06:59:45 am I havent had dry runs lately but the same dogs that would bay 1-3 hogs a night arent getting the pigs to stop since it got hot and the foilage got real thick. I think mine are getting put up till it cools off in the fall.

Post by: boarhog1 on June 18, 2012, 11:38:17 am it comes in sperts. for the past few months all ive been catching is piglets too maybe 75 pounds. few decent boars here and there with no teeth. at the end of last year i was on fire catching big boars bars and sows with killer teeth. it just comes and goes.

I would say it is good for them to keep being in the woods and getting excersise, but always coming out without a hog might not be good. May want to throw em in a pen and let them bay something up, or run a mock hunt for them to keep em on their toes... Just a thought.
