I have 2002 dodge cummins 2wd single cab dually.  Stoke it got 15mpg   I was told putting injectors in it would help the mileage.  Which is bull crap. I still get 15mph.  It smoke like a train and toes way better but no better mileage.

I got an 06 dodge 2500 4wd running 295/70/17 nitto trail grapplers and get 22 to 23 mpg hwy. I got a cold air intake and bullydog power pup on it and that's it.

Only question I ask is are you guys putting pencil to paper on your mileage ( miles divided by gallons used) or just looking at the digital reading??

Pencil to paper wouldn't trust that digital thing for the life of me

6.7 or 5.9? How much did the after market parts cost?

Air intake is pretty cheap 2 I think and programmers range from 300 to 800 or more. I also had my tranny rebuilt and run strait exhaust with 5 in tip. It's a 5.9l

How much was your programmer? What is a more expensive one supposed to do?

I think mine is 550 or so, its the power pup gt I believe. It's got a monitor that reads egt, trans temp, and all kinds of other stuff. It'll read codes, clear codes. It's got all kinds of cool stuff it does. U can switch tunes on the fly and what not. Some will add more HP and torque than others, its just on what you are wanting out of your truck. Do some research on them. I run mine on performance with ads like 70hp and that's how I get the best mileage but it has a tow tune and extreme which ads up to 120 I believe.

I do pencil to paper.  15mpg every time.   I'm thinking about getting a smarty programmer.  I hear there pretty good. Maybe that will help.
