Personally i would think 12 weeks is too young, UNLESS you would be using the same lil 30lb shoat, maybe bring it out before you bring the pup and set it 10-15ft off a good lil ol loggin or atv trail in a dog crate of some kind so it would be easy for her to find.

As far as pitts go, ive always heard to wait til their adult teeth are in so you dont risk the chance of em messin their  teeth/gums up.

Just my .02

Let the pig out today in the woods free and gave it a few minutes then turned pup out and pup trailed it and found it and stuck with it then turned pit pup loose and it caught once ybmc gyp made it squeal but the ybmc gyp never barked once is that a bad thang or come with time?

I bet she will bay with time, maybe let her do it with an older dog that will bay, usually that will fire em up.

oh so you take your 6 month old child to the hospital because you want him to be a doctor ....just my opinion just treat your pup like a pup just spend some time with it.

It wasn't a smart remark... you asked the question, that was his answer. ;)

i'll have pups that i work driving a [ hog hide drag ] line to a CAGED shoat hidden in the woods at 4 months old . it is alot of fun for both the pups and me . the pups enjoy the training , but i never let them run a pig that is turned loose till they are about 6 months old . no point in it . i have had them at around 4.5 to 5 months leave the drag and bay wild hogs that i didn't expect to be there . but keep it fun for YOU  and the PUPS  . relax take your time texas will never run out of hogs lol don't expect or judge your dogs on their performance until they are dogs . and i've never worked or trained a catchdog to do anything but lead and load the rest just comes natural if they are bred right .
