I have tried everything in the book , even cooking mash like the old timers did . I bought and feed the most expensive food sold and not one dog hunted any better. I went back to retriever from tsc and put an egg on each dogs food . That’s the cheapest way I have found to keep my dogs feed and in good shape . I still feed raw pork when I have time to process it and freeze it for a week . Every thing helps to keep down the cost ! HUNT”UM UP !!!!!

Title: Re: Dog food preference Post by: BIG BEN on July 19, 2012, 07:15:17 am Sportmix blue bag 24/18 with about a tablespoon of rice bran oil on top, I feed way less dog food this way and a $30 gallon of rice bran oil last me 2 months feeding 5 dogs. I dont know If Im saving any $$$ at all but the dogs look alot better than just plain sportmix. Not to mention I save $5 a bag when I buy from walgreens, momma works there ;D

I also use retriever from tsc and its just as good as anything ive used from sportdog to black gold. Just as an extra i get penutbuter in 55 gallon drums from a friend. I give 2 cups of dog food and 1 cup of penutbutter every day. They look as good as a rich mans dogs.Title: Re: Dog food preference Post by: Purebreedcolt on July 19, 2012, 10:13:00 am Man how much would it cost me for a couple deals of peanut butter. I have been soaking my feed the last week or so after reading it on here and does seem like they need less and not near the water consumption.

I have been soaking my feed the last week or so after reading it on here and does seem like they need less and not near the water consumption. With the penutbutter you have to make sure that the dogs have PLENTY of water. I feed at night that way when i do give them penutbutter it doesn't mess with their stumachs in the heat of the day. DO NOT give them to much penutbutter with the dog food if you do feed during the day cuz the heat will mess with them. Ive had it happen.Another thing i have found to work really well is a horse weight builder. I use to buy it from orchlens. It comes in a square white and green bucket. Its a powder that is just different ingredience and i would just put one small scoop in with 1 cup of dog food. Its like 20 something a bucket but it last me around 1 1/2 months of feeding. It works amazing and i may go back to doing it if i can not find anymore penutbutter anytime soon.
