Title: DC 30 collar will not fit my Jagdterrier
Post by: S-S on May 06, 2009, 09:34:57 am
I have a 8 month old Jagdterrier that I am wanting to start going with the older dogs hog hunting, but the DC 30 collar just hangs off her.........has anyone else had this problem? I have read that you can't move the metal plate on the DC 30 collar because of the wire that is inside the collar........any ideas?  Thanx, Michele

She's purdy, I'd keep track of her too. Lots of great guys and gals on here have Jagd's, so hope they can be of some assistance.

 Get a bigger dog!! J/K.

Are you putting a cut collar on him first?

I have four Jagds and my DC-30's fit all of them. Two have it on the last notch.

I bought cut collars for my Jagds and sometimes fit the tracking or DC-30 collar around the cut collar.....then add a few zip ties.

Maybe that will help

i put mine on the outside of my 3" cut collars a few pieces of velcro works great never had one fall off yet. dont use ties because they are not reuseable and i forget them all the time. you can also put the collar behind your regular collar. i have had to do that befor. good luck ! jason....nice lookin jagd where did you get him ?

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments......I bought her off of Buddy Goatcher out of Louisiana, a very honest man and great to do business with. My husband and I have been very pleased with her.
My husband had previously bought a 3"inch collar to put the gps collar around, so we will use that until we get a cut collar for her.
Would be interested in seeing some pics of yalls Jagds.......

Thanx again, Michele

Someone posted that cutting the collar voids the Garmin warranty.  I think they meant between the GPS antenna and the battery box, at least I hope so!.  I got tired of watching my little dogs trip over the excess collar tag end.  For a while I folded it into the other name tag collar or the cut collars, but it would pull back out after awhile and the collar material started cracking/fraying at the fold real bad.

I gave up and cut that nasty excess collar off all my DC-30s, about 3-4 holes from the first hole.  I have eleven DC-30s and three DC-20s.  I have 10 jagdterriers, 4 curs, 4 plotts and two pitts (May have forgot a dog or two!).  I have three old dog collars that I cut short and use to extend the short collars for a fat necked dog.  I do that for my 90 lb dogo (new I forgot one!).  The short collars fit all my jags, most curs and female plotts (between my son and I we have 5 female plotts).  The DC-30's balance perfectly with the cut ends, with antennas up.

you could set up your dc 20s similar to the 30s....and use as small of a collar as you want just has to be wide enough to screw it on the collar.  We found the antennas on ebay I think.  They range just as good as our 30s now.  Here are a couple of pics of ours.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions and any pics you posted..........since I 1st posted this (May '09) my jagd has grown and she can now wear the DC-30 by itself on the last notch (it's still a little loose, but not enough for it to slide over her head). We were using a wide nylon collar and putting the DC-30 over that and securing it with zip ties which worked great.

Here is a pretty recent pic of her........

We have now acquired 2 other jagds and all the suggestions are still appreciated................

Michelle

You and Glen have enough jagterriers now to qualify as jagd-a-holics!  Watch out I can't stop accumulating the little dirt piranhas myself!

I kept two females out of T.J.'s litter and plan on repeating that breeding early 2010.  I have attached photos of another male from T.J.'s litter, "J.D.", who went to Bryan Foti.  J.D. is has already recovered two deer.

I also posted a hunt at Foti's lease on the Jagdterrier Hunter's Forum, in the Big Game section and J.D's story in the blood tracking section.

Also in this photo below of the big boar (355 lbs, 4" tusks) taken right before Thanksgiving 2009, you will see your first jadgterrier's littermate brothers (now 13-14 months old), Einstein and Squirt.  The third jag (far left) is your dog's cousin, a month younger than her, Killer Jones.  KJ's mother is Extra and father is Loki's father.  Loki was your first pup's mom.
