Title: Garmin Astro reception? Post by: dangedhogs on July 24, 2012, 01:06:14 pm Does the Astro work off of cell phone reception or satellite? I'm needing to use it in a area with no cell phone reception whatsoever

Post by: justincorbell on July 25, 2012, 03:10:04 am Per advice from Mr. James i started using the longer antennae that garmin supply's with the handheld, its not as convienent as the short antennae while around my neck BUT i get far better reception out of my garmin, i rarely loose a dog since i've switched collars.

Post by: dane on July 25, 2012, 10:50:40 am alot of places where i hunt with regular antenna and the longer rubber one still have problems keeping up with dogs, then i went and got one those magnet long range and it is done me and my partners alot of good. also, our local feed store can update hand held and collars pretty regular and that also helps. since my last update now my collars blinks 3 red blinks instead of 2
Title: Re: Garmin Astro reception? Post by: dangedhogs on July 25, 2012, 10:53:16 pm Good stuff I didn't feel like losing my dogs out there. It's 18,000 acres of high fence, I'd never find my blue lacy out there without the garmin. Only thing I'm worried about now is the rattlers. A year ago we shot 5 within an hour one evening just driving back to the house!!
