What kind of rcds have yall have or hunted behind and are they straight catch or a few barks and catch

Ridgebacks couple cur/pits cat/pits dogo. Heck used my pit a time or two.  Right now have some ridgeback/pits and then idk what she is think pit/cur/wolfhound. She was on the dog trade but she aint no more convinced myself and wife to keep her kinda like her she is turning on well even with me being a cripple lol.  My jagd aint far from a rcd.

Have any of them struck any pigs

The only thing that I hunted with that didn't was the cat/pit. Most of them are gone now for one reason or the other my male ridgeback has and the rest I have are pups but are finding my little pigs outside of the pen so think they will be able to find them in the woods. 

Bull mastiff and he has struck on his own.

Is a RCD a strike dog that will catch his own pigs or is it a dog you let go on a group of running?

Or a dog that just runs around with the pack but he's all catch. Just curious to see what peoples definition.

My definition is a dog that will catch that you let run around with the pack that can strike a hog

If he aint on a lead and catches he is a rcd.  To me there are different types of rcds one out etc etc

i know a guy that uses yellow labs , they dont have the lung that a cur does but they are some catching fools .  bark couple times then catch .  guess any dog that runs loose and catches can be considered rcd ?

What I consider the real deal of a rcd is a dog that finds his own hog  and catches it. I have one that winds or trails hogs, he is 1/2 cat, 1/4 Lab, 1/4 pit. Bad ass dog feels no pain, used him mainly as lead in catch this last winter.

i have two 1/2 pit 1/2 plott rcd no bark all catch will find own hogs and can wind off box are whiller badass shut um down dogs

If you go back a couple yrs on this board and read any of the older post about running RCDs, you wont see any mention of one finding or expected to find pigs. Old oppions from what I ever saw was that bully type breeds had no nose to find pigs. Obviously views on the subject are changing. But I prefer to use the old discription of an RCD being a catch dog that runs with your strike dogs. In my oppion it keeps misunderstandings down about what kind of dog your talking about. Example, If you call my best finder/holder an rcd you just sold his abilities short big time. The best way i can put in words would be the old opinion of catch dog price. No more than $200 for a catch dog that has one job to do. And in some sercumstances not expected to last long. How ever if you call my best dog a RCD were talking about a dog with years of training, excellent handle, able to run through a herd of exotics of any kind, and catch the pig on the other side without incident leaveing me with the confidence that if he made run through a piece of woods there were no pigs there to be cought. That why I prefer to call my dogs finder/holders vs RCDs. To me they are two differnt type of dogs.

Hi guys. Im new to the board and and have only been running hogs for three years. But I have a a
pit/greyhound pup who I thnk will turn into a fine rcd only thing is she is easily cut.

How old is she ? An how is she catching ? I got a stag I would like to breed to a dog like this if she is catching hard

She is 10months. Ive seen a few stags. Never seen them in action tho. She is usually 2barks and strait catch. Started out catching on the snout but after a few staples and some work she is all ear now.

do you run a vest on her are just collare?
