Title: Dc-40 issue
Post by: Swine-Stalker on August 10, 2012, 09:20:42 pm
When I charge the red light comes on and stays on with blue blinking also. Power the collar up, light stays red. I watch a video and did the following. Deleted collars loaded problem collar, clicked no on able to touch handheld to collar and no to Id number. Chose a Id number went to dog and show stats, hit menu and update... Update reaches 8% and says can't communicate with collar. Repeated several times and still the same. This collar has always worked fine and worked fine last weekend tracking out to 1mi +. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd say a call to Garmin is in order......red light shouldn't be on while it's charging.

Mine has only ever done that when it's either been rubpn all the way down until it quit or I charge them and forget to turn them off.

I do believe that I ran the battery all the way down. Do I fix it by charging it full? I will try it.

When mine get left on and run all the way down they do that when I first put them on charge. I don't know if it's a default setting or what. So I cut them on for a sec then cut them back off and put on charge. Even one that has quit will cut back on for a min or two.

I don't get my blue charging light until I turn it on. Then it is red with the blue blinking... Looks purple when it blinks.

If u don't get anything when u first put it on charge check to make sure u don't have mud on the brass contacts on the collar and that it is in the cradle correctly. Then just let it charge for a while. The light should come back on shortly.
