What is it you hope to gain? If you have the right mtn cur or plott they shouldn't need any crossing.
With that being said.....one of the best hog dogs I ever owned was  1/2 mtn cur 1/2 redbone. (Accidental breeding) But both parents were also good dogs.

Straight up meat dog and hard headed. Been shocked off trash a bunch and still won't pass up any trash tracks but one thing about her is you don't have to ask her to hunt.

Here is a pup I raised and have now sold.   Out of a black Mtn cur gyp and a dark brindle plott.
He was the only one in the litter marked like this.  The rest were black.

My buddy has a pretty good mt cur and was looking at maybe gettin a plott pup. And if the plott pup turned out to have the qualities that he is looking for (down the road) he said some thing about breeding them. And just havnt seen that cross much or I guess at all. We was just curious what they would look like and hunt like!

go to squirrel dog central's web site and you will see just about every kind of hound you can think of crossed on a mnt. cur .  there are a lot of people breeding crossed dogs to squirrel and coon hunt with . ukc has started there own registry and labels them treeing curs . thay have finnaly become very popular in the small game world . it ain't all about the hogs boys  lol

Good lookin dogs fellers.
I don't think it would hurt a thing to make that cross, should have plenty of hunt and drive.

i would think if you didn't mind an open dog go for it . i love hound cur crosses . alot of mnt. cur lines are open on track and most the plott lines as well . so you would have to take that into consideration before making the cross .

X 2 the ones I had started out semi open, then went pretty much silent but not 100%.
but if I made the cross I would expect them to be open.

I have a half plott half mountain cur that in my opinion is the best dog me and my husband have or ever will own. She has lots of heart and hunt, will hunt anything you put he on we run her for cats, coon hogs and bear. Gritty as heck won't give up she is gonna get her pig! She got gutted at 3 years old, caught the pig and then let my husband pick her up and take her to the vet, made it through the surgery and still hunts to this day. We tried to retire her she wasn't having it lol. She is 8 almost 9 now and I don't know how much longer she will be around but love that dog and could ask for a better hunting dog.
