Title: Nice Corn Field Boar 8/16/12
Post by: Handle_It on August 17, 2012, 01:47:10 am
Well little brother Jordan called me earlier today wanting to run tonight so i told him come on. We took Buck, Briar and Austin and my shotgun, didn't feel like messing with catch dogs tonight. So we kick em out 9ish road em down they through there heads hard and bolt into the brush Buck wound up opening up about 210 yards in the brush with Briar on his heels. Soon as them two started hammerin Austin shot off to them. They had him going bearin down, well i hadn't planned on the dogs catchin, but Buck and Austin had other plans. Jordan beets me there by about a 100 yards I was suckin wind haha, but this boar was slingin the dogs and he would sling the currs and Briar would grab from the back and sit him back down then they would go for the catch again. Jordan goes to leg him and he slings everything and goes to bolt off. Well im there with the shotgun and sling one into his gut before he got out of sight. They stopped him 15 yards and caught him again and we go in for the stick and neither of us have a knife. Always something, so put another slug in his head and hog down. Sucks he had broke a couple teeth but were still sharp as heck, got one dog good in the front leg. Took us two a bit to drag him out, Good hunt with the lil bro.

Glad he is getting used.... When the 100* days break we need to make a hunt, and you can see a couple of his litter mates.

Briar come from a really good friend that I have known for years he has had great dogs ever since I can remember and Briars line is a great line of dogs he has,  it takes a little brains on both ends breeding/handling you get the breeding right and then  you get the handling of a young dog right once you do that the gentics and breeding will take over.  Thats about all it is to it no Rocket Science.

I would just breed him to the best working gyp I could find and that I liked.  Would not put no more hound in there unless you can stand some open type dogs not saying they would but there is a good chance of it.  BMC/Leopard mixed are pure would be my choice main thing is she is a jam up dog herself I dont think it is going to make much of a difference what breed it is .  J.R. knows that line better than I do need to ask him .

Nah it's a 16 month old male. Long leg have had him like a month he's doing well. Still stays close until u get in some sign or another dog strikes off. But gets down and with some more time he should be good.
