Oh yeah. I know A few REAL GOOD curs that open quite a bit. They must be moving track faster than the speed of sound though becuase they catch a crap ton of hogs and every body knows open dogs can't catch hogs.  ;)

Could either be frustration or excitement. I have a Cat that yelps after a hog breaks. I don't like it but she is pretty darn good so I tolerate it.

I had one that I gave to a friend of mine I called skunk. I didn't see him for a while and asked how skunk was doing for him and he said oh squeak she's great! she was nearly straight catch and wouldn't bay very long on most he says you know when she is about to be looking at one because she sounds like a squeak toy. Speak squeak squeak bark squeaaaaaaaal! I have known a lot that yip if the hog breaks or they are right on its tail.

i have had a few catXmtcurs and one full mtcur and the only one i have left is just semi open when he is right on a runners tail. The other couple where open and when i say open i mean every breath. more so than my buddys deer dog walkers he has had.

I used to have a saddleback cur gyp that was as open as they come, I mean sounded like a dang hound. I caught a lot of hogs with her and she had more bottom than anything I own now. I didn't have a tracking system back then and she was the only way I knew which way they went.

I have a male ybmc that is open about every 20-30 seconds he will bark bout 3-4 times terry has hunted behind him and I'm sure he would vouche for me when I say I don't think it makes a difference cause we have caught just as many hogs behind my open dog as we have behind our silent dogs

Yeah, bo's a talented dog for sure, I was also referring to My Salt girl, Black Bo, most of TShelly's crew, and lots of Mikes Tweety bred dogs the ones I saw anyway. If their fast and determined, mouth don't matter for much.

Lol yeah they sure will sing to one. Erik's boogie dog will even open when cold trailing. Jut like an old plott hound.. You can definitely tell right before boogie is about find a hog

heck most of my dogs will sing a hog a song after it is jumped. I only have one that is semi open while working a track though. if your dog is finding hogs I wouldnt give it another thought.  ;) to me once a hog has been located the hog knows he is being chased so a dog giving a little mouth aint gonna make the hog run any harder.
