Ok I am not a horse guy so a buddy told me I needed to get one and I wouldn't ever hunt off of one again.  I don't like horses and told him if anything I might get a mule but never a horse I don't trust them and now he thinks I'm crazy lol.  Seth yes I'm talking about you.  So which would yall rather have for hog hunting?

if you don't like horses then you won't like mules , a mule is more like a horse than a horse is . ;)

JDT I showed a pic of a donkey I was gonna train to drag hogs and supplies several years ago, and I AM NO HORSEMAN!!! not by a long shot! He is a sweet natured easily coerced donkey, but unfortunately I proved to be the jackass!  :D Ol "Waylon Jennies" is now a happy pasture donkey, and I am still hunting on foot!!!


One of these days I'm gonna buy a hunting horse already broke in for me and live the good life, but in the mean time I'm just investing in atv gasoline.

I don't have the patience to deal with locating a good mule, so I hunt horseback.  ;D

If I can't hunt horseback, I am probably not going to hunt....  And I have several four wheelers and utv's rigged out for hunting.  Just don't enjoy the hunt on a buggy as much as horseback.

And you're the one I'll hope to get a used up horse from one of theses days, if it's used to you, I know I won't break it.  ;)

ID TAKE THE MULE. MORE SURE FOOTED, AND HEARTIER - CLOSER TO WILD. BUT IF YOUR NO HORSEMAN A MULE ISNT GOING TO BE EASIER THAN A HORSE. ONCE A HORSE IS BROKE ITS BROKE, FOR JUST ABOUT ANYBODY THAT CAN RIDE, A MULE WILL TEST EACH RIDER TO SEE WHAT IS PERMISSABLE!

Mule. Can't just go get one from Joe blow, invest your time looking for a good mule trainer and then talk him into selling you the mule he rides. We hog hunt and elk hunt on ours,  I've had good horses in the past but I good mule is much better IMO. A young mule will sometimes test each rider but not the older well trained ones. They also don't need a tune up session. Example: my uncles 4 mules hadn't been messed with in almost a year loaded em up and brought em elk hunting this year no problems. A horse I wouldn't do that with. Mules have a longer working life as well.

I said if you ever hunted off one then youd never hunt off that kubota again! Lol get your facts straight! I love hunting horseback. I can get there 10 times faster than truck, wheeler, or walking for sure. To each his own but it sure is nice to hav a horse to drag one out, its good for colts that need riding, and if you catch a hog out in the open who needs dogs. ;)

Get punchy with Mr. Gillespie!!! Lol I love hunting off of horses. Puts miles on colts and keeps things interesting. Damn sure better time than at a trailride to put miles on colts!!

4 WHEELERS ARE TOO DARN NOISY!

The mule men can keep there mules I will stick with a horse. I ain't no farmer and don't plan,on,plowing any fields. I take horse any day over mule. Jmo

I hunt horse back most of the time and love it.  I hunted coons and hogs with mules for years. I currently don't have a good mule, but I'm looking for one.  Every good mule I've owned I have taught to jump fences. Tie the wires down with your dog lead and throw a blanket over the fence, lead the mule up to it and if trained he will jump the fence with ease.  Most mules also if they are hung in wire want panic and while allow you to cut them out of it.   Good mules are easy to break. I have bought mules that have never been saddled and started them that morning and hunted off of them that night no problems.  I keep using the term good mules because some you can't do any thing with, some have no steering, its just one way and it's their way period.  Avoid these mules, don't waist your time and money. Mules kick more often than horses. I have had a few mules you could rope cows off of, would neck rein, great handle.  A good horse will rein easier and have a better handle than a mule.  Mules are stronger pound for pound than a horse, tougher and more durable.  But mules aren't for everyone and a good one may be hard to find.  I love jumping fences really opens up more happy hunting ground, hard to catch a man on a good jumping mule at night if he knows  the country.

why ride a mule when theres plenty a green broke  colts to ride ;D

Try jumping a fence with a green broke horse, or any horse for that matter.

Lol Donk is worth more than all the horses on,my place if you ask cattle.  Allen (BoarNinja) sent his mule for my kids to tune up and sale. So she if fo sale.lol
