EAST TEXAS HOG DOGGERS FORUM

Here some of they are!  I took lots of pictures so right now i will only show just a few of each.  These are the people that i personally know there were several other competitors.  I will leave off the comentary cause i'll porbably screw it up. Pics are in order of runs throughout the day. Saturday was old dogs, and Sunday was derby dogs which is 2 and under.  I want to thank the men that i know and have been involved with.  Not many people get the oppurtunity i get and for that i am truely gratefull.  Saturday cattle started out bad first several guys cows would just run em over and go to the pens or jump fences.

Good job Brandon. I hope you got some shots of that six month old pup. The only legend in that last picture is Ben. Whenever I get to thinking I know something, I can talk to Ben and see how much I don't know.

Glad to see you got a few pics of the red headed boy that's my nephew rooster. For 7 he can sure hold his own on a horse and with dogs.

The few catahoulas they had did a nice job of scattering the herd.. You would have been proud!!  ;D

I sure enjoyed meeting some of the folks on here and some that aren't. I learned a lot and there sure were some nice dogs working.

By the way, out of the two Catahoula entries one of them placed third, and for a while some folks were worried they'd win it! Lol there were some dang nice yellow dogs there though, I'll say that for sure.

Those are really good pictures Brandon; thank you for taking and posting them. I also enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones this past weekend at the trials.

Dale Toon is the man with the run using the pup and the bobtailed dog. He placed third. The bobtailed dog is by James Camp's bobtailed dog out of a gyp that Dale got from Ben Jordan.

The young pup was raised by Rodney Spivey and turned 6 months old on the Monday after the trials. He was sired by a young dog that Rodney got from Clue Anderson from perhaps the last Cowboy and Sue litter. The pup's mother was sired by the Bear dog from Bigo and Skoal out of a gyp that has Harrison, Ashcraft and Jordan breeding.

The trials this weekend were a showcase for what I think are some of the best cow dogs that can be found; I hope that they will continue for a long time and the younger handlers will carry on the dogs and the work that the older hands have been doing.

These pups were born last night. They are by a young male dog owned by Ben Jordan and  our Lisa gyp.
(Cowboy x Sara)  Ben says this young male dog is the kind. A go yonder get er done Dog. Bob will tell  you Lisa is the best 2 year old dog we ever put in the woods. We have some high hopes for these.

he did good sat. , sunday he had a bad set of cattle and one black cow ran off through no fault of  the dogs . she needed chokin bad haha . them 2 pups wound up coming back to my neck of the woods  ;)

Hogdog05 would you or anyone else know how to get in contact with Mr. John Gay? I had a dog that was out of his stuff nearly 20 years ago that had some traits I really liked. I traded him to a friend that needed a cow dog for a hog dog that I was in need of. Any help would be much appreciated.

These dogs are not worth what you fellows have offered. I tried to give one away not long ago that was by Bear out of an R.E. Taylor gyp and nobody wanted it.

all jokes aside , nobody else need s this line of dogs , i mean hell , they ain't got spots and they bay the bunch instead of makin -eerrr i mean chasin the runners . ;)

I sure really enjoyed being there.  Oklahoma Sunday morning while we were eating breakfast Rooster was riding that horse around and his hat flew off.  He tried to do like he's seen his daddy do and lean off the side of the horse holding the horn and pick it up.  Well he leaned and leaned and looked to grab something lower on the saddle he was Dang near upside down.  He finally figured he swan't gonna reach it and got down and got it.  Would of been some great pics but my camera was in the car.  I tried to trade him out of tuat horse he was ridein but he wouldn't go for it.  He wouldn't budge a lick. 

I also do not know how to get ahold of john gay but I'll ask around.

Good stuff!  Hopefully I can get a better look at them this weekend.  Yall have to stop leaving them spotted ones out of the pics...

Glad To see Bob doing better! Never have actually met Bob, but have grown up with his kids, Jim bob, and Wendi bob. They have some dang good yella dogs! Almost as good as my wifes spotted dogs though! :o

Don't believe the smithville trials will happen again, they held them in Kansas last year.

Hey John, I ain't never been in no cow baying, point contest, but what happens when a spoilt momma runs off. Are the dogs allowed to get as "rank" as necessary to either stop her or turn her back. Are they disqualified for hanging one. Being from Florida, I can't say I know one single man or their dogs in those photos. What I'm getting at is, are these contests designed to show baying style only. or to show a cur dogs ability or lack of ability, to fully  "control"  bad cattle. Seems pointless if the cattle are allowed to run off.

they can do whatever they need to to stop that cow and put her back . if they do it the right way it will even increase their score !
