Title: Re: Gona sound stupid but I don't know Post by: KevinN on November 02, 2012, 10:30:07 pm Calcutta - it's kind of an auction of sorts. Your not buying the dog being ran in the event but your buying the rights to that dog as far as the Calcutta money goes.
Each dog is "auctioned" off before each event. Prices range from $5 up, and I guarantee you the well known dogs won't be cheap. The money from the auction is put in a pot and usually paid out in full after the event. 1st 50%, 2nd 30%, 3rd 20%, etc. It is fun and a good way to get in on some action even if your not running a dog. You'll also see some good natures ribbing when someone runs the price up on another mans dog, lol.
