Let me start by saying ROLL TIDE!!  ;D Now onto my ? my hunting partner has his catchdog (gyp) come in heat and he wanted to breed her to my catchdog.. Well this is the second time trying to breed these two dogs, the first time I pened them together.. went out to the pen the next day and it looked like you slaughtered a cow in there (blood everywhere) she was fine but ended up not taking. That was the first time.. so now again we pen them together and he goes out to check on them and sees them hung up.. goes back later on and same deal blood all over the place. I for one have never seen this and was wondering if any of yall have? And if so should i be worried of her not taking again?

when you say blood all over the place to what are you refering ?? are they trying to kill each other or is she bleeding from her koochie . any abnormal swelling ?  little more info . does she bleed alot before breeding or just after ? what about her cycles when you aren't trying to breed her ?   ?  ?  ?  infinity  ?

No there not fighting.. Its from her quote "koochie" No swelling other than her heat nothing abnormal and before breeding no not much just the normal but it seems to be that when they get unhung is when all the bleeding accurs. She has been in since the last time we tryed but we let her skip that one. Not exactly sure when that was seems like it was probably April or May..

If there was that much blood from her "area".....she could be getting injured by the male and herself struggling to pull themselves apart after they tied. And IF that were the case, that is not good. I know alot of folks are old school, ans allow dogs top breed by tossin' em in a pen together, and that works for some folks. But, there is the risk of the dogs hurting themselves internally by pulling apart too soon, which is why it's good to standby when doing a breeding, and hold the dogs still if need be till mother nature sets in and the dogs 'part' naturally. That's just my take on the issue.

@ Mrs. Louisiana- yes mam i belive your right, that is what should have been done, and if she does not take we will let her skip her next and try later on.. But then again i dont want to hurt the dog so she might not be tried anymore. I ran by his house today to check on her and shes fine no swelling other than her heat and no rips or tares.. Guess we will have to sit back and see if she takes.. If not would yall try the dog later on? Or just let her be and not be bred again?

Hmm......well, I'd go with your gut feelin. I would DEFINATELY skip her neat heat though for sure. And if you do decide to try again down the road, supervise and hang on to the two of 'em while they're tied until they naturally break apart.
