Title: Flank cut?? Post by: Ekunkel on November 09, 2012, 12:29:55 am I had a cat x bmc gyp get ripped open on her flank lat week. Between her leg stretching out, and her constant habit of chewing staples, shes getting close to the end of her repetitive care. I cleaned it with idodine and vetricyn the night it happened, stapled her the night it happened, the next day, and touch up staples ever couple of days since. Shes contiguously chewing them out, im just leaving her alone, is there any way to keep the wound healing, even if its left open?? I tryed the whole "Wrapping it and chili powder thing, apperently there putting peanut butter in chili powder now days because she ate the bandage and all, and then ate the chewed the staples out agin... Never quite seen a gog eat a whole roll of vet wrap. lol Thanks for the help guys.

Title: Re: Flank cut?? Post by: halfbreed on November 09, 2012, 12:14:34 pm everybody should have a couple of elizabethian collars of asst. sizes around the house your vet will sell em to ya or petsmart sells them . just makes things a whole lot easier .
Title: Re: Flank cut?? Post by: MrsLouisianaHogDog on November 09, 2012, 12:31:01 pm Staple her up again, and put a plastic e-collar on her until the cut is healed. Shouldn't be long. The e-collar works wonderfully. She's gonna slow the healing process if ya don't get an e-collar on her. That's what I would do anyway.
