Title: Proud of my young dogs.
Post by: jmize on November 11, 2012, 02:46:30 pm
We turned out a little after daylight on the sabine river. The dogs were hunting real good and they headed out further and further. I can usually tell when they are about to strike due to the fact that I have one dog that isnt long range unless she is on a pig and she was 900 yards. At 970 they all showed treed. We drove the mule to 700yrs and headed to them. After the run we got in to about 60 yards and saw that they were hammering at a fallen tree top. I let my dogo that Ive had for a little over a month loose and he ran in and we heard the tone of the bay change. Some of the dogs were caught but some kept baying which was kind of unusual since the catch dog was there. We crawled into the thick tangle of limbs and realized that we had one caught hog and one loose one. When my two cur dogs that were baying saw me they caught the second pig for me and I legged that one while my buddie matt legged the bigger one. I got the smaller sow flipped and stuck then I proceeded to go help matt. I stuck the bigger pig, and after a minute or so things kind of calmed down. It took us about 5 minutes to get the cd off and to take a few pics of the hogs, and durring this proccess my young female cur, and newest cur dog Jack headed out on track. They ended up a mile away and I kept loosing their signal. We drove the mule to about 700 from them and I still kept loosing them which was unusual, but we could hear a really faint bay.  Matt and I started to them and realized that they were in the river down a really steep bank, and thats why we couldnt hear them and I kept loosing signal. We slid down the bank and sent the cd to seal the deal on the last smaller boar.

Im really proud of all my young dogs. It is a great feeling when they catch pigs for you.

This last picture was from three weeks ago. It was just a little sow we caught, but it was another hunt that my young dogs did a good job with.(http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j369/hogstomp/579819_426160370765743_1358001782_n.jpg)
