Title: Lil Yeller Bandito's Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on November 21, 2012, 05:12:20 pm Well here are my pair of keepers out of the line cross with North Cedar Creek Ranch. So far so good with em. Haven't had alot of time to fool with my pair but they are baying cows through the fence already. Good sign...
But its gonna be a long road ahead. By the look they are gonna be horses with plenty of ground clearance. All the littermates went back with mamma and are gonna be keeping Heith busy in a few months for sure. Enjoy. Title: Re: Lil Yeller Bandito's Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on November 22, 2012, 09:54:31 pm Well finally got some time to play with the lil bandits.
Accomplished two scenario's today successfully and to my liking. 1. The bucket test. 2. The walk in and wait test. Title: Re: Lil Yeller Bandito's Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on November 23, 2012, 07:28:44 am explain the bucket test... ??? Bucket Test. My version of a test for early detection of gameness in pups. I allow my set of pups to get comfortable and then I kick the H@ll out of a bucket toward and past them. Alot tuck tail and head for the house squalling like a tomcat. (Not what I like) Some step forward toward the excitement and even give chase to it as it flies past em. (What I do like) A pup that will not stand its ground toward an unknown in my opinion does not constitute having much of a future around here. Have witnessed to many grown dogs that cower in the corner when faced with a threat. These make delicious worm food. ;) Title: Re: Lil Yeller Bandito's Post by: SCHitemHard on November 24, 2012, 01:38:39 pm i should try that! do you have a video you can put together so i can see how its done? how did the two take to it? i believe they chased it right?
Title: Re: Lil Yeller Bandito's Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on November 24, 2012, 03:53:33 pm Yep could probaly pull one off. Really simple. Just wait till they are relaxed and off guard and kick it direclty past them.
The lil gyp flinched but stood her ground and the male bristled up and lunged at it. Round two they both gave chase is what the picture was. Typically the ones that head for the hills squalling will never have much backbone. Anyway that had been my experience and had held true for my program so far. Title: Re: Lil Yeller Bandito's Post by: SCHitemHard on November 24, 2012, 05:15:59 pm im gonna try it with mine and see what they do ;) ;D
Title: Re: Lil Yeller Bandito's Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on November 24, 2012, 09:44:16 pm Just to clarify. Kick it past them.
Dont go to beating em over the head with it. Lol ;D Title: Re: Lil Yeller Bandito's Post by: SCHitemHard on November 25, 2012, 10:35:31 am 10-4 did it and my dach took to the hills, my little gyp grabbed the bucket and ran around the yard.
so how did they do miles? ;D Title: Re: Lil Yeller Bandito's Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on November 25, 2012, 11:23:48 am Keep the gyp for a bit longer and eat the weenie dog.
With mustard! >:D Title: Re: Lil Yeller Bandito's Post by: ked on November 25, 2012, 02:46:30 pm So what you are saying Miles, is you kick the bucket and if the puppies don't attack the bucket then its their turn to kick the bucket?
Title: Re: Lil Yeller Bandito's Post by: YELLOWBLACKMASK on November 25, 2012, 03:57:58 pm Haha. Sometimes it dont take much more than that round here. >:D
But on a serious note. Be wary of them scaredy cat pups. They dont all have to chase it down and attack the object...but if they head for the hills everytime hollering for a savior....things probably wont change that much in adulthood. |
