Title: Truckers Post by: Caseylee on November 25, 2012, 10:45:26 pm I drive a truck for a living. wondering if its legal to carry a gun in a semi truck in the state of Texas?? I have a CHL. sure hate being out on the road without a firearm.
Title: Re: Truckers Post by: dub on November 25, 2012, 11:02:24 pm It is legal on a road trip. A CHL you need to check which state but I think there is reciprocity with most if not all other states that have CHL. But I always carry a gun when traveling and I don't have a CHL.

I've been told that the TX law has a loop hole in it that states a gun used for hunting is legal to carry in a vehicle without needing a CHL. So with that being said, my .9mm that lives beside my driver's seat is for in case I get charged by a boar hog while I'm in the woods. :p Title: Re: Truckers Post by: Caseylee on November 25, 2012, 11:41:15 pm I dont think they would believe I was out hunting in my peterbilt truckin down the hiway. alltho i do take my old bulldog with me shes good for anti theft

Alot of us still do, it's a very small one that you can put in you hand or pocket , and no one will know you have it. Our instructor told us Texas does honor an Oklahoma license. I've been told that they don't honor the new open carry law we have though. This might all be different now, been a couple years since I've looked at the laws for texas.

Then at least he would be alive to get in trouble. I am not a law bender but when it comes my safety and my family's safety I don't care what anybody says I will keep my family safe and that includes making sure I get home to take care of them.
