Title: DC30 dropping signal
Post by: jlewis713 on January 18, 2013, 06:20:23 pm
I've had the garmin system for a while, and it's done well for a long time. Recently 1 of the dc30's started dropping signal regularly. Basically every time I hunt and the dog gets out past 200 yards or so, it just drops signal. The collar is still double blinking, so I know it's still putting out signal. Not sure what the issue is. Is there an update for the collars or anybody have any suggestions? I've got 5 collars, some 30's and some 40's, and all of the other ones are still doing fine, so I know it's not the unit that's the problem. Any suggestions?

Go to Garmin on line and do the update, that should do it, you have to set up an account but its free.

All of mine have done the same thing. I changed out my antennas to the new longer ones and now I am getting over a mile with the collars.
Got mine from Gun Dog supply for I think $9.95 a piece

Had the same issue.  Try cleaning the connections for the antenna and transmitter on the back of the unit.

Do all of the above jlewis,....get some long range antennas, update your collars with the Garmin Webupdater and while you're waiting on the antennas to get here, take the originals off and clean the connections. If you haven't done it yet, remove that collar from your dog list and add it back.
