How can a dog that has never been on a pig be a catchdog??????

ive seen it done mostly bulldogs never seen a hog in there life brought into a bay just to see and they hammer down

What else is a bulldog gonna do if you choose to buy one/list one .......it happens, but very few gonna be strike dogs. He's a Catch Dog (prospect)  ;D

  that's one of the mystory's of life . i've never seen the point in '' training '' a catch dog . you take them out and they either catch or they don't . all a good bulldog needs is far as training is to lead and load . the rest is either in em or it ain't

I personally prefer to try em before I tote em, i dont want to go to the woods not knowing if a new bulldog will work or not. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. I agree with the its in them or ain't as well, i just dont want to find out in the woods lol i only have 1 bulldog 90% of the time so if its a new one it is usually my only one. Im gettin 2 new prospects from Mr. Bennet this weekend so i will have a little depth in the catching department.

I assume yall are talkin about my post in the dog trade yesterday, haha I can see where that was maybe a little misunderstood. Maybe not, but the way I see it is these pups, moma is more of a catch dog than I need, and the daddy is a solo himself. Iv had them around pigs enough to get them to rollin, but not really necessary for training a dog that was born to latch on and not let go. That's like trying to teach a man to fish, you show them a thing or two when there young, and hes set the rest of his life. Now if my pups are catching ear at 6 months, and the parents are 100% lock down kick a** catch dogs, id call them pups a catch dog prospect to consider. Sure aot of diffence in finding a top notch trainable cur in a litter than finding a pit bull that will stick to an ear. Sorry if some misunderstood my meaning. 

Bout like the post with the jam up catch dog pit that's for sale or trade for a catchdog or baydog. If its such a jamb up dog why is it for trade for a catchdog

In the world of internet hog dogging....nothing surprises me anymore.......

Saw a "finished" catch dog for sale that had been in the woods a total of 5 times in its life. Saw a "finished" strike dog that had been on 3 hogs in it's life.

I must be doing something wrong as it takes about two years of hunting before I can get mine trained......... :o

no lie there cracker theres a 1000 dollar finished dog on sa funny tho it reads something along the lines of been on 5 diff hogs in pen and couple in woods if thats the case my 5 month d pups must be worth 800 they seen few hogs in pen  lol :laugh:

I got some finished strike dog puppies due in march, their mother has seen tons of hogs and they have been inside her so it counts..........right? lol

I have two 7 year old catahoulas that have hunted since they were pups...and I wont say they are finished!! Sometimes they still act retarded!! I believe a dog is "finished" when u lay them in the ground and put a cross on their graves!! Up until then they are still learning!!!

I agree! We call a good dog a seasoned dog, not finished... Finished, IMO, says just what it means... a finished dog is finished living!  :o

x3 its finished when hes laid up on the porch soakin in the sun and nothing more i just have a couple well started pot lickers ;)

I wont call one a real catch dog unless it is hog catching machine
