Title: Re: Boars Nest Hog Bay This Saturday Feb 23 Post by: cowboss79 on February 21, 2013, 01:41:48 pm I have never participated in a bay and was wandering what the rules were as far as a dog biting a hog to stop it ect. I know they are not allowed to catch but was wandering the limits. If nipping was ok or how it would effect your run. Also if you are required to call a dog off! Thanx. I look forward to atleast watching.
Title: Re: Boars Nest Hog Bay This Saturday Feb 23 Post by: boarsnesthogdogs on February 21, 2013, 02:06:24 pm ur dog should try and stop the hog if it drifts more than 15ft, nips or checking the hog is acceptable at this point if the hog is set up it is a deduction for every nip if the hog runs once the dog has stopped or attempted to and the judge will take in to count the dogs ability to stop the hog a five second count will start if your dog has not released in 5 seconds u r dq and thats that no you dont have to be able to call ur dog off hope to see u there

Title: Re: Boars Nest Hog Bay This Saturday Feb 23 Post by: boarsnesthogdogs on February 21, 2013, 03:22:56 pm not yet but i have two myself and i love bayn em and watching them bay they really are amazing agile little dogs with big personalitys i have a 5 month old that i am probably going to start running in the one dog am but i cant bay at mine thats the worst part of having a pen is not being able to compete, but i would love to see yours if you got one
Title: Re: Boars Nest Hog Bay This Saturday Feb 23 Post by: cowboss79 on February 21, 2013, 03:42:04 pm I have a ten month old male and a female that is right at a year, I have had them in bay pens a couple times but they are very gritty. Not to bad on single bay but two or more want to catch. Or if hogs are very little they will catch. How big are ur hogs normally? I think I'll bring them and see how it goes! I have caught several hogs in the woods with them but haven't spent a lot of time in bay pen to prevent them from being over aggressive .
