Title: Splendora Hunt
Post by: TShelly on February 20, 2013, 04:36:03 pm
We hunted the Splendora tournament this weekend. The team was Van Dorn, Jason Thompson, Cward and Murray. I was just a helper, as my dogs are still wrecked from the Barrs that didn't count a few weeks back. Marshall Mims was also a helper. We tied 18 hogs over the course of the tournament. Hunting was tough, tough. We finally got into them Sunday around 10 am, we tied 9 in the few hours before the weigh in. It was a another bad deal for our team. Chances best gyp Mater took a boar hog across hwy 59, bayed him & got hit coming back across. RIP Mater. She was a damn, damn good dog. It sucks to lose one that good.

We weighed in 1078# on 5 hogs which placed us in 4th. 9#'s out if 3rd place and 90#'s from 1st place. Allen called us the next day and said the 2nd place team actually failed their polygraph but refused to give back their trophies or $$$. So we were bumped up to 3rd. Not many pics from the weekend. But I snapped a few

R.I.P. Mater!!!

These tournaments sure can't be worth all the good dogs y'all have been loosing or getting wrecked...

Especially with someone not playing by the rules and keeping the cash!!

Way To go y'all! Really good showing as always!

Mater was one bad bitch and she will be sorely missed!

Never did ask you, but how has RedMan healed up from his weiner injury?

I was part of the 2nd team.  I will make a very strong recommendation to everyone wishing to post on this subject.

Be very careful stating what you "hear" versus what you know for a fact.  The Pre-circulation of rumors have already engaged lawyers.  If you do not wish to get involved in a civil law suit, I recommend you do not state what you do not know for a fact.

There are several things that you have posted that I know are not correct.

Alan Wells 832-492-3712

Before you state anything else incorrectly.  Give Alan a call and get his story straight.

If you were part of the 2nd team that was disqualified then please feel free to set the story straight on here so we can hear it straight from the horses mouth  ;)

heck of a hunt guys

Look guys, this is all gotten out of hand. And it my fault. I let anger and misjudgment get the best of me.

I let the winning team win while getting a ticket for tresspassing. Being that  hind sight is twenty twenty that may have been a bad idea. I did this because I understand that a dog dont know boundaries. And I would have gotten them myself. We can all say they should have call them out but when a dog is possibly getting wrecked im not waiting on anything. The team got a ticket and then got permission to retreive the dogs.  I am sorry if that pisses anyone off but its what I did and would do out for any team. Im just trying to be realistic.  But after all but the placing team left it got prettty heated with mostly one member of a team. By this point I blew up and lost my composure. This member wanted to go 100 percent by the rules as they were written. So thats what I did with them. I had the lie detector person set back up. And drew for names for the test. This time it was 100 percent by the rules. I did this know that I let this team weigh in with half of their team. And how I took it was that since he was wanting 100 percent compliance I gave it to him and notified them that they were disqualified.  But this is not what I wanted by no means. A that point the second place team offered their money back. I refused because this is not what I wanted.

I wanted a realisitc contest. I was fine with them weighing in like they did like I was fin with anyone weighing in like this.

This whole deal is my fault I handled it completely wrong. I understand that.

I sent the second place team in knowing that if we went 100 percent by the rules they coukd not pass. There was not a failure bylby lie. What this person admitted to I told them they could do.  I was just so heated and stressed completely out by the actions of one person. I made a fool out of my self.

I am at 100 percent fault for this dont blame anyone but me. I just want to make clear that I am not doing this for Texas J or any other of his team mates except for Kevin Allen. He is an outstanding guy. A stand up person who is unfaily become the scape goat in this whole matter.. also this is why I am offering to pay for any entry into my tournament next year and have already been on the phone with Tdha to possibly help me next year run this or supervise it. As all of next years proceeds will go to them.

Any questions please call me Allen Wells 832-492-3712

Help me understand this post.  If I post that I heard the second place team failed a polygraph, and that I heard TexasJ was a member of the second place team, then I am subject to a civil lawsuit? Or is it if I was to state, as fact, that the second place team failed a poly?  Or does it have to be a more detailed account of what a person has heard? I certainly don't know the details of the events that occurred,  but as an admin of ETHD,  where this discussion is taking place, I'd sure like to know what you perceive as law...

I mean, I can't help but think you are throwing out threats of a lawsuit based on yhis thread, but as a lay person, I can't see where anything out of line has been posted thus far.

I was told they failed it was not gossip it was straight from Allen.  Kyle and Kevin are great guys by all means I was not running them down. It was a simple they failed and it was it. If they did not fail then that is bullchit that someone would knock there integrity like that. It still shows question by question theydid but Allen said it was ok for them to do it. Rules should be set in stone and not changed . Texasj ours information was factful from Allen.

Lawyers involved in a hog hunting tournament, that's ridiculous. And any of us could get a trespassing ticket while hunting. I for one am going to go to my dogs. The ticket they got was'nt their main mistake, telling everybody was the mistake.

Good hunt Tony and I sure am sorry to hear about Mater. It's tough to lose a good one to a car. Tell Jason to tighten up and make a hand.

I myself got a ticket with them n you can have 10,000 acers and drop a dog dead center of it and if it jumps a runner u will be off of it before to long anyone with a real dog knows this and my dogs you can't just call off when there trailing a hog we didn't turn dogs loose on property we weren't suppose to be on we dropped dogs on my lease and they jumped a runner so say we did wrong but I know if u say u don't trespass either ur dogs aren't what I would call a hog dog or your a liar

What a terrible way to lose a dog! Sorry to hear that Chance.

What team took first and what in the dickens is the deal with the second place team? I can't believe I just read that lawyers maybe getting involved! We as a community just need to police ourselves and make these tournaments run smooth as possible or they will not be put on anymore. Congrats to everyone for supporting another tournament!

To me this is what happens when you put money in hunting. I use to coon hunt and the same crap happens in the PKC hunts where money is involved.

Rip mater.

  Good hunt Tony and crew.

Reading the rules I don't see where team two broke them. Team one  entered property they didn't have permission to be on while hunting , game law.

Does no body remember why deer dog s went away , you do not have the right to go get your dog if it crosses property lines.

Did the contest guy not threaten to disqualify other teams for riding four Wheeler on county road ?

Thanks for all the comments on Mator. She was a mighty fine dog. Mator was a daughter of IKE linebred to the T. I has produced a many of good dogs Mator was at the top of his list. I had just decided to breed her on her next heat. It was tuff to try and find the right out cross do to how tight she was bred. I was going to breed her to boogie van dorns dog as he stand above the rest of Erics good dogs. We did not get to make the cross. I have breeding these dogs along time and when you raise one like her that everything comes natural you know you done something right.
I kinda look at things different when a hog kills my dog. I say you one this boxing match but we will get another round. I will Barr a boar and release him even if he kills my dog. I will catch him another day. when you put a dog on the ground it happens. These competions have gotten way out of hand. When the Barr rule got changed it separated us it is a shame but I tried to tell them. Texasj got the blame for it and there is grown men literally wanting to whip his ass over it. I like hunting the competitions. But they are getting not fun any more.
The way I see the competitions is I'm going to hunt anyway so might as well compete for money  Maybe all this bullchit will work it self out maybe it want  Lets move on.

I was not there to hear any of this argument. I think there has been a bunch of he said she said. I called Allen and Allen had told me they failed I called him because he put on the competion and I wanted to hear it from him. Tony got his information from.me. . So if someone is getting a lawyer come after me but you better have your game face on. There again I think Kevin and Kyle are good people I would hate that there integrity got bashed if it was not true.

Sorry for your loss Chance.

Although all good dogs are irreplacable i hope you have one soon to follow in her tracks.

Its hard hunting next to highways.  I have a really good place that runs along a mine highway and its big but the pigs always run to the highway, and i hardly ever hunt it just because of that.

Everything has been just a misunderstanding I took the test 4 the second place team as far as the results on paper I did not fail Allen told me that himself he is saying that I failed by his rules because while two of the guys was working on Thursday morning me and Kyle brought some hogs in we caught without the whole team combined so they didn't stay in the trailer all weekend and just lose weight which he said was fine at first. There's knot any lawyer getting involved if I have something to do with it. Like I told Allen I have no hard fillings with anybody we would have gotten our  dog if it crossed on someone else's land myself one way or another if it takes getting a ticket. From now on we just need to stick to the rules like chance had mentioned earlier.
