Title: Odd Growth On Tail Post by: jimco on February 24, 2013, 07:56:52 pm Noticed some kind of growth or ringworm or whatever on my male dogs tail on Feb. 1. At first I thought maybe it was from beating it on the inside the dog box but after awhile it looked more like a growth or mites , hell I didn't know what it was. Well I dipped him for mites/fleas/ticks etc. I applied a fungal cream mixed with Nu-Stock which is a sulfur product daily. I saw a slight improvement after 20 days
but it still looked pretty bad. I took him to the vet and they took a bunch of skin scrapings that showed negative for mange mites. The vet ain't got a clue. He gave me some cephalexan antibiotics and said give him med twice a day for 30 days and if it don't clear up they would have to do a biopsy and send it off and see what it is. I ain't never took a dog to the vet and got a definitive answer on anything. The vet always ends up scratching his arse and saying he aint got a clue. I asked him if I should keep him away from other dogs or could I keep hunting him and he said it's up to me. It's frustrating because this dog is just starting to turn on and I don't know if I should keep him isolated until this clears up . A couple blurry pics of his tail below. Anyone seen this before? It was full of little scabs at on point. So was his testicles. Scabs are gone but tail still looks bad. Hopefully someone has seen this before. Title: Re: Odd Growth On Tail Post by: hogmantx1979 on February 24, 2013, 09:00:06 pm I will post pic tomm of the pitbulls tail

I had a old walker female that would chew on her feet and had a fungus growth that looked a lot like that. I would give her 4 benadryls and shoot a little wd on her and it seemed to help a bunch. Vaseline over the top of it might help too. But I would still take it to the vet to make sure what it is.
